I have not updated my LiveJournal in about a year! I guess I can share some of the highlights of the past year just for the record...and so I can look back one day and say, "Oh! That's what I did in 2006-2007!!"
Okay, here we go...
August through November 2006, I completed my Junior Internship and all the classes corresponding to that.
Christmas 2006 was fun...shortly before Christmas Herman, Dylan, and Amber decided to accompany me to the Keys for an impromptu camping trip. It rained the whole time, so we were miserable, but the company was fabulous.
On New Year's Eve, I got a puppy...Howie became my son and I have since been leading the life of a single mother. Sometimes I have to get up in the middle of the night for him...and I have to take him to Palm Bay with me whenever I visit Dylan. I love him, though. It's all good!
January through April of 2007, I completed my Senior Internship in a third grade classroom in Seminole County. I loved it and realized that I was born to be a teacher...I love the kids!!
Right after the semester, my mom left for South Africa where she spent 5 weeks with family and friends. My uncle has leukemia, so she spent most of her time with him...it was a pretty emotional time for her.
May 5th, alongside of Amber, I graduated from UCF. We had a wonderful, delicious get together at my place, and we enjoyed Tiramisu cupcakes, cheesecake (desserts made by yours truly) and Olive Garden (Dad Thomas and Dad Herman both have nifty blood donating skills...and we used Olive Garden coupons compliments of the Florida Blood Banks).
Mid-May, I got a Summer job at the Sun Shoppe in Downtown Melbourne. Amber trained me and I am doing SO well on coffee drinks and everything! I had NO previous coffee experience, so I am very proud of myself. It's hard work, but worth every coffee grind.
June 20, 2007...went to Pineloch Elementary in Orange County and got offered a job as a third grade teacher. I am very excited. We're just working through the paperwork and county procedures now, and my first official day is August 13th. I am very excited!! God definitely spoke to me during the interview, and I KNOW I made the right choice.
Dylan got his first house!! Well, he's renting, but it's huge and so well located! I will obviously spend a lot of time there for the remainder of the summer. It sucks that I can't live closer to him but I am doing what is right for both of us right now. This is giving him the opportunity to start his own life independent from his parents' house & from the complications of "living with a girlfriend". I am starting my career and would like to have my own place for a while in order to determine whether or not I know how to balance a checkbook, figuratively speaking, of course. I would also like to preserve that amazing feeling of missing my love during the week while we're both busy, and holding him close when we get to see each other over the weekends and some weekday evenings.
I am also still torn on the color of the new car I will buy as soon as I have my official letter of appointment. I know I want the Honda Fit...at least I know that. Can't imagine if I had to pick between different makes or models! Did I replace OCD with indecisiveness?
Time for a nap. I have had many late nights recently. I hope everyone had an amazing July 4th!
