I didn't get many texts or phonecalls today. I guess people are kind of busy.
Particularly my BCS friends, whom just a week ago I drove 4 hours there and back to be there for their party.
I'm actually not concerned much, I know a lot of my friends ARE in fact busy with their own lives - I certainly can't remember everyone's birthdays, I only know when I'm reminded soon before it happens. So no biggie, no problem.
But let me revisit the BCS crowd a bit in that... I mean seriously... Sarah's birthday is May 24th, and we all went to Scarby. Jenny's is June 12th, and we got together the 14th. The whole crowd drove Sarah to the fair and I met them there, and the whole crowd got together again to celebrate for Jenny. And all the while we talked about how it was great that our birthdays are so close together. And I spent hours in the dealer's room at A-kon trying to pick out gifts the two of them would like. And a week and two days later, when mine rolls around, I don't even get a call? I'm going to Houston this weekend for D&D - and I've been rather vocal about that so obviously I don't expect a huge party or anything as I don't even have the time for it.
But a phonecall? An email? A text message? A message on AIM or yahoo that I leave on all day?
This is not directed to all my friends who have their own life crisis, their own jobs and now in many cases families to keep them busy from day to day life and for whom the day passed unnoticed - I will probably forget when yours is unless I'm reminded, we're all human and that's perfectly fine.
But from two close friends in particular, I was kind of let down today. I'm pretty bummed about that. I'm trying to just convince myself that they planned something and it will be revealed later - but somehow I'm not really convinced.
In other news, my general manager was fired today. He's a nice guy, but not strict at all and he basically sits in the office all day answering emails and looking at charts without doing any work. Hopefully his replacement will whip some of the lazier jackasses into shape. Good news is my promotion is apparently still in the works, and isn't being canned due to my boss being so. Yay.
Other than that somber moment my birthday went well. Work was work, came home and went out to dinner with mom and Ashley at one of those restaurants where they keep bringing meat until you've had your fill of it. Gooooood stuff. After that Ashley came over and we cuddled on the couch watching "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" because she'd never seen it. We made it through most of it, kinda missed a part in the middle......but then we got our attention back to it! She thought it was cute. Apparently her high school performed it before she became a student there, and she couldn't BELIEVE it after seeing the movie. It's been a while since I've seen it, so I had a good time.
And now, it's bedtime. Goodnight everyone.
