First the argh, then the smartness. Argh comes from work. "Work"? Meh. We'll go with "work", since it's still theoretical.
So I have a job. It all went alright and what happened was that the owner decided he was good with a manager of cooks [who is also acting as hiring manager, it seems] and his wife to run things, so he doesn't need the usual assistant/general manager pairing. So he offered to make me a host at the same shitty salary we agreed on for the previous position - which is now not so shitty if I'm just hosting.
So we had computer training, and he said he wanted to open this Sunday. I was all ready for it, made sure I didn't go out of town for too long this weekend, etc.
I called him today just to make sure, and sure enough we're NOT opening tomorrow. He said we're more likely going to be opening Tuesday. ....Phone call? Hello? The owner has NEVER contacted me, and I'm sick of it. Original interview? His wife. Training? Nope, I had to go by there, didn't even call to say it was too early. The email I sent him about the design? Replied to by his designer. The meeting later? That Franky guy. And now this. I'm sure he would never have called me, I would have just dressed up and driven 30 minutes over there for nothing.
Screw it, I'm finding another job. I'll take a dollar or so pay cut for a job where people actually tell me what the hell is going on, and the owner doesn't call me "White boy". I'll hold onto this one until I FIND said job, but I'm definitely going to get out of here as soon as I can, which is a shame really because this might be a good way to practice my Japanese. Oh well. His cement scheduling is a bit annoying as well. I go out of town about once or twice a month, but on the weekends I don't, I'm of course free. But I couldn't say I can work "most" Fridays or Sundays, I HAD to take Friday evenings off, and put down that I wanted to work Sunday evenings as well [more in an attempt to get a decent number of hours than actual desire]. I'd rather a shift job where I'm put in where I need to, and if I need 2 or 3 days off, I can fill in for other people and be put in on other days so that I still get 35-40 hours or whatever I'm trying for. Plus, this restaurant job wastes my time much in the same way GEOS did - sure I'm only working maybe 7-8 hours, but that period in between shifts isn't long enough to go home and that's not worth it anyway - an extra 30 minutes driving each way, meaning for an 8 hour shift I'm taking up closer to 13 hours of my day. Give me an 8-5 shift please. Get it done and give me my evenings to do stuff on.
Anyway, apparently my reasoning is sound, as told by this meme:
