Watching Casanova has definitely sparked my interest in the real man. Although I find Heath Ledger a decent actor, his character was what won over me and not his acting.
Using Project Guttenberg, I've come across the actual Casanova's Memoirs. The movie was not based on his actual adventures but merely derived from it. I haven't gotten around to reading it. There are loads of volumes. O_O
Well, back to the movie. I liked it! It was a light movie which did not require much thought. :) The pacing was well done. And the look of it all was so simple and colorful.
Scene stealer of the movie is Jeremy Irons as Bishop Pucci. Oliver Platt as Papprizio comes close too.
Quotes:
"Be the flame -- not the moth"
"To be love someone, you have to be someone worth loving"
"What is it that you seek, Signor Casanova?"
"A moment that lasts a lifetime"
I realize that I may just be rambling. Do forgive me.
Oh, I finally got to watch Nanny McPhee, too. My gosh, how Thomas Sangster has grown. Well, he definitely seemed older in this one. And wow, does he look fine! :D
