I wonder how much money parents should make to instill that lower-middle-class nonmaterialistic attitude into their children, but also to have enough to make their lives comfortable and money-trouble free.

aren't you, uh, kind of taking the parenting aspect out of you know, parenting?

sure class has a lot to do with how a child is raised, but i'm pretty sure you have to try to instill values in them as well.

and so the answer is... it's flexible depending on how good of a parent you are?

I have to agree with Ahmed.

That being said, we both grew up spoiled, so you can make your judgments on that (Ahmed- Hope you don't take offense at that)

In all reality, you can always have lots of money yourself and not really spend it on ridiculous things. Like if you're not obsessing about stuff and material goods and set realistic limits for you children about the difference between needs and wants, etc... then the amount of money in your bank account as a parent shouldn't really matter.

nope.

i know it.

that being said, i feel like i have a fairly nonmaterialistic attitude anyways. but maybe i'm blinded by being spoiled.

I am, but only for the reason that 'good parenting' is entirely subjective, where what I'm asking, while subjective, has observable and correlational effects outside of the role of parenting.
