Dream [002] 06/28/09 - Zero Requiem (Canon Update)
Suzaku walked slowly down a dimly-lit hallway toward a massive door, which was adorned by a vibrant, golden frame. The walls themselves were bare, though some areas looked as though pictures had been hanging there until a short time ago. The odd thing was that the knight really had no idea where he was, or how he had gotten there; and he himself was wearing a uniform bearing the same jewels and crest as the robes Lelouch had been wearing when the two met in Espoir. Stranger still, he wasn’t moving of his own volition-his body was moving along the corridor by itself.
He threw open the doors, which opened into an extravagantly decorated room, which, upon closer inspection, Suzaku recognized to be the Britannian throne room. And there, standing in front of the golden throne, was Lelouch, clad in those familiar white robes. The knight’s body continued to move forward until it stopped a few feet from Lelouch and, much to Suzaku’s surprise, knelt before the man.
…Was it Geass?
No.
It had to be a dream.
Resigning himself to the fact that he had no control over what was going on; Suzaku decided to simply let the scene play out.
“Your Majesty,” came his own voice, saluting Lelouch with the utmost respect.
‘Your Majesty’!? Then… Lelouch was the Emperor?
A soft smile crossed the white robed Emperor’s face as he motioned for Suzaku to stand. “No, Suzaku. That isn’t necessary. Not here.”
Suzaku nodded, straightening to his full height to face Lelouch. “Then you’re really going through with this?”
“Yes,” said Lelouch, still wearing a smile--the first sincere smile Suzaku had seen his old friend wear in a long time, “All that’s left now is for you to erase my existence.”
What…?
Lelouch continued, “All of the world’s hatred as been gathered on me, and now you must kill me as promised,” The Emperor said as he placed a hand under his robes and withdrew something. As he held out the object for the knight to see, Suzaku immediately recognized it as a mask… Zero’s mask. “Schneizel will work for Zero, and the Black Knights will have his legacy. The world will finally be united at one table.”
Suzaku lowered his head solemnly and took the mask. “And that’s…”
“Yes.”
“The Zero… Requiem.”

Then Lelouch was... telling the truth.
