So one of my old Stony Brook teammates IMed me on Facebook chat. I was mildly surprised because we had not talked in ages, but happy to hear from him nonetheless. He asked me what I was up to and when I said I was at QC,
I still get days where I feel like a misfit, but that's just my problem. Truly, I feel as though my niche is more here than it ever was at Stony Brook... though Stony was a MILLION times better than Riverhead! Ugh... my experience in the Riverhead school system sucked. The hilarious part is, most from Riverhead think I LOVED it just because I was salutatorian and have a school record that still exists. Too bad being good at stuff does not guarantee happiness, and I was not happy.
But I digress, as per usual.
in response to my saying how awesome QC is, Chibber said the following
"im so happy for you ur are very hardworking n one of the brightest but modest people i know. u should be happy cuz u are great one of my fav from the team n always will be ur were always kind to me nad that is why i remb u till today
I wonder if the message got through to him that he really made my night saying that. It made me feel so good. It means a lot too, coming from one of my SB teammates, considering most of the people on the XC/track team made it painfully obvious they thought me weird and wanted as little to do with me as possible.
These are the sorts of words I need to remember those days I'm really down on myself, those days my self-esteem is virtually nonexistent and I feel as though I have absolutely nothing to offer the world.
