Mia stood near the corner of the street, holding the small infant close to her chest as she sea-sawed her body back and forth lightly. The carrier was at her feet as she glanced away from the baby long enough to check to see if she saw Chloe's car.

Chloe parked by the curb a moment later and rushed to get out of the car, her chest tightening at the sight of Mia holding the infant, "how is she doing?" She asked as she made her way around the car.

"I think she's doing okay so far." She said softly, not sure how a baby that was left all alone could really be okay. But Mia supposed to was too little to know the difference.

"I took her out so I could keep her warmer. I didn't want to leave her in the seat...She looked lonely." She told the other woman quietly. "Should I put her back in for the ride?" She asked not sure what to do, but not really wanting to put the baby down.

Nodding slightly, Chloe picked up the seat and opened the back door to the car, "why don't you sit in the back with her?" She suggested, glancing at the teenager.

She nodded, worried. "Okay," She said before following Chloe and placing the baby back in the seat. She climbed into the back of the car and waited for Chloe to hand her the seat.

"I'm guessing she was scared," Chloe whispered, shaking her head, "there is no good reason to do it, but it's the only thing I can think of."

Mia pursed her lips as she watched the small baby closely and swallowed hard. "It's not an excuse. There are other places you can bring babies..." She said her voice trailing off. She knew Chloe wasn't making an excuse for whoever did this.

She was only trying to find a rational explanation and Mia was grateful for it, but either way she felt terrible for the baby with them.

"I know," Chloe told her, "and I agree with you, but we will figure this out for her and she'll be okay, Mia." She promised, even though she had no idea what would happen.
