Vidia comes from a traditional 'troubled home'. Her father abandoned Vidia and her mother, Sarah, when Vidia was only two. This led to her mother growing extremely depressed, drinking at night and neglecting her daughter. Vidia's grandmother kept the household mostly stable till she died when Vidia was ten.

It didn't take long at all for Vidia to start showing her anger about the situation, taking it out on her fellow students and teachers at school. Mostly, she was sarcastic, bitter, and generally uncaring about anyone besides herself. The love and care her grandmother had shown her was not enough to quell the discontent about her living situation. She did poorly in school, had no friends, and talking to the on-campus counselor did no good. Getting into fights (and losing) became common, and it wasn't until her twelfth birthday, when Vidia came home bruised and bloodied from her most recent fight, that Sarah realized she needed help.

She started to go to counseling, and try to be there more for her daughter, but Vidia was reluctant to trust, her ability to do so having been hardened by years of neglect. At school though, she tried to improve herself, but her reputation was set in stone; she couldn't make friends, and she had a hard time fixing her snappish attitude. One day, the group of bullies most fond of picking on Vidia lured her to the school one weekend, under the guise that they had found her father. One of the bullies was the child of a cop, giving their story more credibility.

Meeting them on the roof, Vidia realized it had been a trap, and they were fully intending to beat her within an inch of her life, when nobody was around to stop them. It was deep into this fight that her powers began to manifest. First was wind, Vidia managing to release a burst that slammed some of her assailants into the old, rickety fence that surrounded the roof top. However, this only made them attack her more vehemently. Eventually, she was slammed into the fence itself, and it gave way, Vidia plummeting to what surely would have been her death, had her flight abilities not kicked in and stopped her plummet. Instead of meeting her end on the asphalt, she stopped her descent two feet from the ground, allowing her to land on her feet. Freaked out, the bullies ran off, though they didn't stay silent.

By Monday, everyone had heard about Vidia's supposed 'flight', alienating her even more than she already was. After being teased for a good few months, one day Vidia came home to find her mother sitting in the living room, talking with a stranger Vidia had never seen before, a beautiful woman with golden hair and a dazzling smile. She introduced herself as Principal Clarion, from a school called Hollow Tree Institute for the Gifted. She had come to recruit Vidia, explaining that her school could help Vidia develop her abilities. Sarah, who didn't know about Vidia's supernatural abilities, thought it meant her natural intelligence, and told Vidia it would give her a chance to reinvent herself if she went. Eventually, Vidia agreed, and after a week, flew to California, where the school was located.

Principal Clarion explained that there had been a burst in supernatural abilities all over the country, usually involving young women, and almost always when they were on the brink of puberty. The government established Project Fairy, and using this school, helped train the girls in their abilities, learning to control them and use them for the greater good. The students were grouped by their 'talents', and after some testing, it was determined that Vidia was a fast-flying talent. Vidia began to train, and by the time she was 14, she was the fastest fast-flying talent in the school. However, her attitude from her old school stayed and made it hard for her to make friends; she was just too distrustful.

Soon, a girl named Tina Bell transferred in, and immediately stole the spotlight from Vidia due to her glowing tinker talent. She was even given the nickname 'Tinkerbell'. Jealous, the girl tried to get Tinkerbell in trouble, but only succeeded in getting in trouble herself. Trailing back into her uncaring ways, Vidia kept her head down and just kept trying to make herself faster and faster.

Most recently, the annual Halloween masquerade approached. Principal Clarion always wore a special crown with her costume, but it was soon revealed that it was missing. Due to a crack Vidia made earlier to Tinkerbell about stealing it, all fingers pointed to her as the culprit. Her punishment, could she not prove her innocence, would be expulsion from the school. Principal Clarion set up a hearing for Vidia to defend herself before leaving. Prilla, a younger talent and the only girl who believed in Vidia, convinced Vidia to play detective and find the real thief. After a long, wild goose chase around the school, and thousands of fake crowns later, Vidia found the real one herself. She was relieved, but also furious; her desire for revenge at being accused almost made her steal the crown for real. Prilla was the only witness to this moment of weakness.

Vidia presented the crown to Principal Clarion at her hearing, the other students now really thinking she stole it and screaming for her to be expelled. When asked if she had anything to say in her defense, Vidia said no, and instead let all the other students that led to the crown vanishing explain themselves. With Vidia's innocence proven, everyone rejoiced, and Vidia gave Prilla a rare gift: her real smile. Not a smirk, or her sickeningly fake smile, but her true, happy smile. Prilla knew that would be the closest she got to a thank you. Principal Clarion planned the masquerade again since the crown had been found, and apologized to Vidia, offering to have her be the guest of honor since she'd found the crown. Vidia refused, claiming she'd rather go on a wild goose chase again than go to the party.
