In Memoriam
Kelvin Jason Chua Cheng Kiat
12 March 1978 - 09 March 2009
I last met Kelvin at a movie premiere, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at The Cathay cineplex on the 3rd of Feb 2009. He was his usual gregarious self, full of smiles. He offered me an extra pair of tickets when I already had 3. We joked that even I didn't need that much space.
I first knew Kelvin from Livejournal. His online blog handle was redteeshirt then. Like his idol Madonna, he morphed and changed his style constantly, moving from platform to platform, nicknames to nicknames. It was hard catching up but that was Kelvin, he was the trendsetter, led the pack, everyone else just followed.
He was a well-spoken, articulate young man, full of drive and determination. His blog reflected his personality and life, full of rich colours, sight and sound. Every encounter with Kelvin was a pleasure. He remembered my every detail and always carried an interesting tale.
Kelvin was an avid follower of my blog and always complained why the faces in the pictures were spraypainted. I said that it was to give more attention to the remaining faces. Well Kelvin, this picture is just for you. The spotlight will always follow you.
We are all indeed much poorer by his passing and no doubt, our loss can never be replaced.
You will be dearly missed.
