Reminiscing the Ghost Mall

Triplets of belleville(benneville) is playing at the Ghost Mall!

If anyone doesn't know what the Ghost Mall is, it was a place i hung out alot when i was a freshman, and during sophmore summer. It was sort of "the anti-commons" because it was this huge rubble-filled vacant lot, and a meanderous abandoned mall. It was also in walking distance, which made it accessible, and something to do. Most of the people i took there got it(as in, understood it) so i wasn't busy trying to convice people to go exploring in it.

One time, my friend chased me with a fire extinguisher and almost killed me, up on the 2nd floor. Another thing was it wasn't patrolled(thus the GHOST mall... a forgotten brown-tiled 80's mall)
We wandered into this area where an escalator descended into the ground and there was a glowing neon ambiguous sign hovering over it. Then we found this maze of plastic and we followed it until we saw the inside of the fallbrook mall... completely boarded off and empty. Then we saw a sign that said ABFESTOS(sp?) and ran like hell. Once i walked up this little conveyer belt to this room on the third level, and the lights went out, so i had to crawl back down with a flashlight. The Ghost Mall has been immortalized in one comic strip, a character sketch  entitled "Lena," a poem by the character herself, and a series of photos i took with a camera from target.

Now it is this ugly Consumer Palace... with a Walmart. I really miss the Ghost Mall. Countless adventures, and (ironic) inspiration. Dog bless you Ghost Mall.
