I have chosen my next read--Flann O'Brien's "At Swim-Two-Birds". The style is new and intruiging to me, and frankly a bit fun. The narrator will say something along the lines of "The suit offended at least two of the five senses" and then will break from his paragraph and say "Name of two senses: smell, sight". I don't really know how to word it, it's interesting. He also does away with quotation marks, similar to James Joyce, and I believe the book is one complete entity, devoid of chapters that probably in this author's opinion "interrupts the flow" of his writing. Maybe not. But I am quite fond of this style, to be sure. The story in itself is quite entertaining, a novice author knowingly writing garbage and showing it off to his friends. Or at least that's what I've got so far. Thumbs up, O'Brien.
So the new laptop is nice. Small, sleek, portable--its quite the joy to carry around. Though I cherish it as if I had fathered its form, I knew that inevitably my clumsiness would catch up with my laptop's delicate treatment. I dropped it today in Brazil, but it came out of the scuffle virtually unscathed. Hurray Apple architects! This is a solid one.
Having so much freetime has given my mind the chance to wander, and thusly the skeletons of stories are taking vague shape in my mind. I can always act out scenes in my head, I think its just the first few initial words beginning the story that impede me from putting my thoughts on paper. I hope to break free of this block soon.
I wish you a fruitful day as always, reader.
