Back From The Desert

Just got back from my trip to Tucson. The city was a lot more than I expected: friendly people, beautiful mountains and river washes, significant new developments. A vibrant city on it's way up. I have to say that working with these real estate developers really gives you an insight into the living breathing heart of how a city works. From the politics, the industry, the investors, to the people on the ground I saw everything Tucson was, is, and will be in the future.

The trip was extremely successful in all respects. We closed the deal and now I'm looking at a ridiculous recievable come september when the development gets sold and the investors cash out. The resort was spectacular. I got to sit at the Ventana (only 5-star restaurant in town), eat stupidly pretentious foods and discuss Chilean wines with the owner for 3 hours as we watched the sun set over the valley (I know dick about wine, so I mainly listened and drank a goddamn lot of it). The place had a spectacular view.

It's good to be back home in SF even if I have a shitload of crap waiting for me back at the office. I'll tell you one thing though, if you had told me a year ago that I would be touring a resort that my client wants to buy and getting the VIP treatment from everyone I would have called you insane. High finance, swank resorts, old chilean wine, and 5-star restaurants are nice but sometimes you just want a goddamn burger while you watch 24 in your jeans. I'm not going to complain though, because I'm sure someone would go and find a nice hardware store to shove up my ass as punishment for complaining.

Verdict: Tucson is great, SF is better, and one tiger prawn should never cost 85 bucks no matter how fucking pretty it is.
