not again...

somehow, my harddrive on my NEW computer got corrupted. i have to erase and reformat the HD.

the bad news is that my computer won't even boot and repair the disk hasn't worked. When I told the techlady the error numbers on the HD analysis thing the conversation went as such she then asked: "Do you have some sort of external modem connected through ethernet?"

so, apparently, not only was this shitty Ethernet modem that was given to us by SBC Global the cause of HD corruption, it's a possibility that it is why my laptop died as well. fuck. So the way I figure it (and I am not Mr. Expert Computer Man), the computer froze because I overloaded it with all my external music stuff (microphone, synthesizer, et al) and an absurd amount of FX running the same time as I was doing things online. So, when I rebooted the computer, something that has to do with this particular (and apparently chinsy ) modem corrupted a small but integral part of my HD.

What's more, is that in attempting to fix it, things are just slowly getting more fucked up. I am going to call tech support tomorrow and see if I can't have it sent to the shop under warrenty and hopefully save my last month of unbacked up work (which includes 4 songs, 2 essays, and a couple other un-repeatable items.) otherwise I just have to wipe and reformat the drive.

DAMN THE LUCK!

:'(

P.S. I will be M.I.A. for a while, not that I have been very LJ active anyway though...
