I may be a bad person, but I feel like that makes Nathan less sleazy.

Oh, see, the thing that makes me really hate him is his "I just wanted to be with someone who doesn't make me feel guilty every time I look at her" whining. Because - judging from the interaction we saw onscreen, at least - she's not all "You put me in this wheelchair and I will never never let you forget it" with him. So his guilt is his damn issue and he needs to be a big boy and figure it out without cheating on his wife. Ugh. I do like the character, I just don't like the character, you know?

Jessica? They named ikiN Jessica? Wow, that's... prosaic. Ali Larter = still awesome. The subtle differences in voice and mannerism are so well done.

Um, because I can't stop nitpicking the physics of the heroes' powers: when Hiro stops time, does he also stop, like, heat? Wouldn't it be really hot that close to a gasoline explosion? And when her brother stapled Claire, she definitely said 'ouch' and winced - so is that her learning to fake a normal reaction to something that should hurt, or more of a 'startle' reaction than anything else, or does she actually feel pain? Yeah, I'm back on this again. I can't let it go.

Re S60, I had pretty much the same reaction as you. Just because you acknowledge that you're being an asshole doesn't mean that you're any less of an asshole, Sorkin. (The "Your side thinks we think you're stupid, and my side thinks you're stupid" line? I wanted to slam that door myself.) But at least it was... slightly more funny? Danny The Puppetmaster is fantastic, and I'm not just saying that because Bradley Whitford knocks my socks off. I also enjoy the use of a perennially costumed Nate Corddry. Lobster suit, Jesus: hee!

The thing is... sometimes it just feels like the whole show is trying too hard. Like, Sorkin wants his banter to come off effortlessly and naturally, and sometimes it works, but then there are moments (like the first 10 minutes) where you can see everyone straining. When even a top-notch cast can't make your lines sound right, you need to back off and let the subtext be subtext again.

So I'm not crazy? Because I feel like I'm the only one who's noticing how great she is.

Oh God, yes. Like, in that first ten minutes...all the jokes were SO FORCED. Ugh.

Totally not crazy, she does a really good job distinguishing between the two personas. Personally, I like her and her take on the character, but I don't like the storyline all that much, nor the way the show choses to present the character. I get that she's supposed to be freaked out by her power and overwhelmed by what's happening to her, but I don't see why that always has to result in her looking like a complete wimp, especially every time she's talking about her problems to either D.L. or Nathan or, even worse, Micah. While I can get that she might look to a guy to solve her problems - not that I have to like it - I don't really adore the idea that she needs the same from her ten year old son. But I really think that's the writing, not Ali, and I think it might actually get better once she's managed to become the dominant personality over Jessica (I trust that will happen eventually, or there will be chainsaws in the writers' future).

Hee. maka2000, on the other hand, wants Jessica to become the dominant personality. Which would be more fun.

Well, at the moment Jess is certainly more entertaining, but I'd settle for a less whiny Niki, too.

I think Jessica taking over would be the more interesting choice - well, actually, I think the most interesting would be to see Niki struggle with somehow integrating Jessica into her existence. Not that Jessica seems all that willing to cooperate - like when Niki turns to the mirror and says, "Help me," but Jessica doesn't come out until quite a bit later. She doesn't want to help, she wants to command, and it's obvious she's got her own agenda for just about everything; so I'd love to see Niki fight/argue/plead with her, and see them come to some sort of cooperative detente. Eventually.

all the jokes were SO FORCED.

Oh, SRSLY! "You thought I really don't know what NBS is?" Well, um, yes, actually, because you're on this show. Poor John Goodman was just pushing through that speech as quickly as he could, trying to avoid inflicting even more pain on the poor viewers.

Yep, that seems the best possibility.
