Of course I'm seeing them again!

THURSDAY

FUCK YOU THURSDAY.

10:45-11:45 Oh, You Sexy Geek!- Does displaying the sexiness of fangirls benefit or demean them? When geek girls show off, are they liberating themselves or pandering to men? Do some "fake fangirls" blend sex appeal with nerdiness just to appeal to the growing geek/nerd market, or is that question itself unfair? And what's up with all the Slave Leias? Action flick chick Katrina Hill (ActionFlickChick.com) asks Bonnie Burton (Grrl.com), Adrianne Curry (America's Next Top Model), Clare Grant (Team Unicorn, "G33k & G4m3r Girls"), Kiala Kazebee (Nerdist.com), Clare Kramer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Nerdy Bird - Jill Pantozzi ("Has Boobs, Reads Comics"), Jennifer K. Stuller (Ink-Stained Amazons, GeekGirlCon) and Chris Gore (G4TV's Attack of the Show!) to discuss whether fans can be sexy and geeky at the same time -- and if they should! Room 6A

11:00-12:00 The Evolution of Web Series: The Guild to Dragon Age- Writer/actor Felicia Day (The Guild), actor Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth), Dragon Age: Redemption director Peter Winther (Leverage), and Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah discuss the secrets to The Guild's success and what happens when you take that winning formula to the dark fantasy video game universe, Dragon Age, for the upcoming web series Redemption. Room 7AB

11:00-12:00 Obsession: How TV and Movies Go from Fascination to Phenomenon- There are some shows and films that we watch. And there are others that we obsess over. We talk about them at work the next day. We join the fan websites. We wear the T-shirts. But what does it take to turn a series or movie into something special that we can't live without? This panel from BuddyTV.com examines that topic from all points of view: the writers and producers who create the projects, the actors who star in them, and the fans who consume them. Panelists include Chase Masterson (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Yesterday Was a Lie), Skyler Samuels (The Nine Lives of Chloe King), Allison Dubois (Medium), Mel Lowry (ChuckTV.net, True-BloodTV.net, NiceGirlsTV.com), Karen Bailey (vice president of production, Starz Channel), Zack Stentz (writer, Fringe, Thor, X-Men: First Class), Amy Berg (co-executive producer, Eureka; supervising producer, Leverage), and Deric Hughes and Benjamin Raab (executive story editors, Warehouse 13). Room 23ABC

11:00-12:00 X-Play Live- Now into its 13th year, G4's X-Play is TV's longest-running and most watched video game show. Each episode is packed with brutally honest reviews, live demos, and of course intern humiliation. Hosts Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, Blair Herter, and Kristin Adams and executive producer Wade Beckett make their triumphant return to Comic-Con and promise a no-holds-barred live panel. They'll take questions from the audience, debut a new comedy short, challenge the hardcore fans with trivia, and give out prizes to a chosen few. This hour of reflection and finger pointing is guaranteed to be a life-changing experience. Room 25ABC

FIRST PANEL OF THE DAY, AND I CAN'T DECIDE WHICH ONE TO ATTEND. I think the geek girl panel could be really interesting OR really terrible. I have no interest in the Dragon Age webseries, but I do have interest in Felicia Day. The obsession panel also sounds interesting. And how great would it be to go to the X-Play panel in my INTERN shirt??

10:00-11:20 Signing with Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá- Of course, going to any of those panels means I miss my chance to get Daytripper signed. Blergh. Exhibit Hall, Dark Horse Booth #2615

12:00-1:00 Spotlight on Jo Chen- Comic book artist and Comic-Con special guest Jo Chen has gathered a huge fan base with her highly detailed and painted covers for such titles as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, New Avengers, Runaways, Street Fighter, and more. Be a part of this special spotlight panel devoted to Jo's history, artistic skills, and a review of her body of work. Moderated by Dark Horse Comics editor Scott Allie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Hellboy, The Goon). Room 7AB

The advantage of choosing Felicia Day's panel is that I really want to see Jo Chen afterward, although interest does not appear to be high on MySched, so maybe I can just walk in. Comic-Con's MySched site has been very useful in determining relative level of interest, as you can see how many people have added a panel to their schedules.

12:30-1:30 Psych- Calling all Psych-o's! USA Network's Psych is back at Comic-Con with another hilarious panel featuring the stars and producers behind one of cable's most popular shows. Moderated by Psych's resident morgue-dweller and fan favorite, Woody the Coroner (acclaimed actor Kurt Fuller), the one-hour panel will be full of surprises and face-time with series stars James Roday (Shawn Spencer), Dulé Hill (Burton "Gus" Guster), Maggie Lawson (Juliet O'Hara), Tim Omundson (Carlton Lassiter), Kirsten Nelson (Chief Karen Vick), and Corbin Bernsen (Henry Spencer). Joining the cast are Steve Franks (creator and executive producer), Kelly Kulchak (executive producer) and Chris Henze (executive producer). The cast and creative team will share secrets and stories from the set as well as answer questions about the show. Expect exclusive videos, surprise giveaways, live performances, and an extended preview of Season 6 episodes screened only for Comic-Con fans! Ballroom 20

Of course, Ballroom 20 will be hell to get into, so if I go to one of those panels, I will probably miss this. Again.

12:30-1:30 Sci-fi That Will Change Your Life- Want some smart science fiction? Panelists discuss sci-fi from the past year that goes beyond special effects to tell stories that will make your brain explode with new ideas. Those on hand include Charles Yu (How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe), Zack Stentz (Thor, X-Men: First Class), Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The Middleman), and io9.com editors Annalee Newitz, Charlie Jane Anders, and Meredith Woerner, plus possible surprise guests. Room 24ABC

But maybe I can just walk into this panel? Maybe?

1:45-2:45 Ringer- Sarah Michelle Gellar makes her highly anticipated television return in the gripping new thriller Ringer, as a woman who, after witnessing a murder, goes on the run, hiding out by assuming the life of her wealthy identical twin -- only to learn that her sister's seemingly idyllic life is just as complicated and dangerous as the one she's trying to leave behind. Be the first to see an exclusive sneak peek at the new series about family secrets and stolen identities, followed by a panel discussion with series stars Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four), Nestor Carbonell (Lost, The Dark Knight), Kristoffer Polaha (Life Unexpected), executive producer Pam Veasey (CSI:NY), and co-executive producers Nicole Snyder (Supernatural) and Eric Charmelo (Supernatural). Ballroom 20

2:30-3:30 The Character of Music with BMI and White Bear PR- Composer and executive producer teams discuss the dynamics of music in film and television. Dan Licht and Sara Colleton (Dexter), Jeremy Zuckerman, Benjamin Wynn, and Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino (Avatar the Last Airbender), and Noah Sorota and Mark Verheiden (Falling Skies) discuss their working relationship, how music plays a character in their stories, and the intense process of scoring their projects. Moderated by BMI's director of film & TV Relations Anne Cecere. Attendees will get a sneak peek into their work and receive fun giveaways. Room 6A

I love the music on Dexter! And Avatar! And, whatever, Falling Skies.

4:00-5:00 No Damsels in Distress Here- Female voices in sci-fi and fantasy create kick-ass heroines. Danger just might be these girls' middle name. But no amount of bad guys can keep these ladies from doing what's right. Whether standing up for friends and family, or just plain kicking some ass, these girls don't shy away from a fight. Damsels on the panel include Marie Lu (Legend), Kathy Reichs (Bones & Virals series), Chloe Neill (Chicagoland Vampires series), Jeanne Stein (The Anna Strong Chronicles), Merrie deStefano (Feast: Harvest of Dreams), Carrie Vaughn (Kitty Norville series), Seanan McGuire (The October Daye series), and Sherrilyn Kenyon (Dark Hunter novels). Moderated by Maryelizabeth Hart of Mysterious Galaxy. Room 25ABC

If I don't go the Ballroom 20 route, maybe I can actually attend one of seanan_mcguire's panels!

4:15-5:15 TV Guide Magazine: Fan Favorites- TV Guide is back with an all-star panel for the fans! Moderated by editor-in-chief Debra Birnbaum, Fan Favorites features your favorite talent from your favorite shows -- in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Panelists include Nestor Carbonell (Ringer), Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory),  Jorge Garcia (Alcatraz), Leslie Hope (The River), Zachary Levi (Chuck), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Julie Plec (Vampire Diaries), Matt Smith (Doctor Who ), Kevin Williamson (Vampire Diaries), Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood), and others. Ballroom 20

But...LOOK AT ALL THOSE FUN PEOPLE ON ONE PANEL.

5:30-7:30 Showtime : Tired of Ordinary Television?- This year at Comic-Con, Showtime saves! The casts and creative forces behind Dexter and Shameless give sneak peeks into the new seasons. And be the first to see an exclusive look at the new Showtime original series Homeland. Dexter -- See the exclusive world premiere of the new season's trailer, then moderator Ralph Garman (KROQ entertainment reporter) will preside over a revealing interview and Q&A session with the stars and executive producers, including Michael C. Hall (star/executive producer), C. S. Lee (Masuka), David Zayas (Batista) , guest star Colin Hanks (Peter Jackson's King Kong, Roswell), and more. Also appearing are executive producers John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Scott Buck, and Manny Coto.

Shameless --  Come party with the cast and creative team behind the hottest new Showtime original series, Shameless. If you thought your family was dysfunctional, wait 'til you meet the Gallaghers. Get the inside scoop on what's in store for the new season as Mike Schneider (TV Guide Los Angeles bureau chief) leads an interview and Q&A with stars William H. Macy (Fargo, Jurassic Park III) and Emmy Rossum (Day After Tomorrow, Dragon Ball: Evolution ), plus more, along with executive producer John Wells (West Wing, ER, Southland).

Homeland --  This fall, the war on terror comes home in the new Showtime original series Homeland from executive producers/writers Howard Gordon (24, The X-Files) and Alex Gansa (24, The X-Files, Numb3rs), starring Claire Danes (Terminator 3), Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers, Life), Mandy Patinkin (The Princess Bride, Criminal Minds), and Morena Baccarin (V, Firefly). Comic-Con favorite Morena Baccarin will make a special appearance to introduce exclusive footage from Homeland.
Ballroom 20

So I could park my ass in Ballroom 20 and see a lot of cool panels, or I could see a bunch of smaller ones instead. I'm not sure which way to go. The B20 panels are fun, but they're also the most-covered (hell, they even have a highlights show in the evening where you can watch the best bits from the panels in the big rooms), so I could probably read about or watch anything that's really amazing?

6:00-7:00 Inside the Voice Actors Studio- An annual Comic-Con favorite, Bang Zoom! Entertainment is proud to bring you this one-hour panel/workshop about voice acting that covers practical dubbing techniques, important issues such as studio protocol, and what to expect at your first audition. Here's an opportunity for attendees interested in the voice-acting profession to get firsthand advice and experience from the pros in an intimate yet dynamic and exciting setting. You'll also get some inside information on how to break in and what the industry is really like. This truly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans and aspiring voice actors to interact with some of the most accomplished members of the industry. Celebrity panelists include renowned video game VO director Chris Borders (Gears of War), and actor Dee Bradley Baker (Phineas and Ferb, SpongeBob Squarepants), and moderator Tony Oliver (Robotech). Room 30CDE

I want to see Dee Bradley Baker do his thing! That would be fun!

6:00-7:00 Entertainment Weekly: The Visionaries: A discussion with Jon Favreau and Guillermo del Toro on the Future of Pop Culture- EW moderates an in-depth conversation with Jon Favreau (Cowboys & Aliens) and Guillermo del Toro (Don't Be Afraid of the Dark), two filmmakers at the forefront of bringing geek culture to the masses and making blockbuster art out of pulp fiction. They will discuss their inspirations, their current work, and how they strive to put a personal stamp on blockbuster entertainment. Plus: How is new technology changing the way stories are produced and viewed? And what do they think the pop culture universe will look like a decade from now? Moderated by Jeff "Doc" Jensen. Hall H

Yeah, no way I'm actually getting into this, but it's nice to think about. Last year's was pretty cool.

7:30-9:00 Detecting Deviants in the Dark Night: Profiling Gotham City's Serial Killers- From the dark corners of Crime Alley to the bleak cell blocks of Blackgate Penitentiary, Gotham City has been plagued by murderous villains who stalk the night. Mr. Zsasz, Abbattoir, and even Commissioner Gordon's son, James Jr., have preyed on Gothamites for reasons that seemingly defy logic. Now the citizens of Gotham face a new threat: the Gotham Ripper. How should Batman, the world's greatest detective, apprehend these and other notorious serial killers? The forensic psychiatrists of Broadcast Thought -- H. Eric Bender, M.D., Praveen R. Kambam, M.D., and Vasilis K. Pozios, M.D. --  team up with Mark E. Safarik, M.S., V.S.M., FBI retired supervisory special agent, Behavioral Analysis Unit (Killer Instinct), to explore the dark world of Gotham City's serial killers. Are serial killers psychotic, psychopathic, or neither? Do Gotham City 's serial killers have real-world counterparts? Are common traits shared among serial killers, and can "profiling" lead to their successful apprehension? Learn how real FBI agents profile and arrest serial murderers. With that knowledge, don the Mantle of the Bat, profile the Dark Knight's deadliest villains, and plan their capture. Bring your questions and your curiosity, and discover once again that real life is, in fact, stranger than fiction! Room 8

This sounds really interesting! Except maybe we'll have better things to do on Thursday night.

FRIDAY

After the Thursday schedule destroyed my brain, it was nice to have a less stressful day.

10:00-12:00 Signing with Judah Friedlander- I don't actually need to meet him, but it might be entertaining to hang around and see if he says anything weird. Maybe he'll wear a hat. Autograph Area, AA33

10:30-11:30 Locke & Key FOX Pilot Screening- The most talked-about pilot not on the fall schedule was the FOX production of Locke & Key. This screening of the entire pilot will show you just what a void there will be on your TVs this fall. Watch the special filmed adaptation of Welcome to Lovecraft, and see the Eisner-nominated comic brought to life. Room 8

So I haven't actually read this comic, but I was interested in the pilot because Josh Friedman was doing it. Not sure whether I'll actually check it out.

11:15-12:15 AMC's The Walking Dead- Stars Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually), Jon Bernthal (The Pacific), Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break), Laurie Holden (The Mist), Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints), Steven Yeun (The Big Bang Theory), Jeffrey DeMunn (The Green Mile); series creator/writer/director/executive producer Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption); executive producer Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator); executive producer Robert Kirkman (creator/writer of The Walking Dead comic book series); and makeup artist and consulting producer Greg Nicotero discuss the success of season one of AMC's series The Walking Dead and reveal what to look forward to in season two, which will air on AMC thisfFall. Join the panelists for a one-on-one Q&A session and an official sneak preview of season two. Ballroom 20

This is the most-anticipated panel on my schedule, apparently, so I basically have no hope of getting into it unless I wait in line a really long time, and I don't actually care that much about the show. Plus, I may get spoiled for the comic.

11:30-12:30 Locke & Key Panel- Make your plans to watch the Locke & Key TV pilot at 10:30, then join Eisner-nominated creators Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, along with Locke & Key TV pilot writer Josh Friedman, for a frank discussion of the show, the comic, and what's coming up in Clockworks, the second-to-last story arc in the acclaimed series (or is it?). Room 8

12:00-12:30 Signing with Javier Grillo-Marxuach- Ramiel Special Edition! Exhibit Hall, APE Booth #1804

1:00-2:00 Signing with Nick Spencer- I must tell him how awesome Morning Glories and Jimmy Olsen are! Exhibit Hall, Marvel Booth #2329

2:00-3:00 Green Lantern: The Animated Series Video Presentation and Q&A- Warner Bros. Animation brings the Green Lantern to television in a new CG-animated action series for Cartoon Network from world-renowned producer, artist, and animator Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series). Based on the DC Comics superhero, Green Lantern: The Animated Series centers on Hal Jordan and his partner Kilowog, who find themselves alone on the edge of the Guardian Frontier fighting off an invasion by the deadly Red Lantern Corps. Timm headlines a panel -- moderated by Warner Bros. Animation's Sam Register (Teen Titans) -- that also features producer Giancarlo Volpe (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and producer/story editor Jim Krieg (Ben 10: Alien Swarm). In addition to the Q&A, fans in attendance will be treated to footage prepared exclusively for Comic-Con. Don't miss out, or you'll be waiting 'til 2012! Room 6BCF

Bruce Timm plus Giancarlo Volpe, one of the Avatar directors? Looks promising! But, again, how much do I really care?

2:15-3:15 Exclusive Screening of ABC's Newest Supernatural Series, The River- From the studio that brought you Lost comes a new adventure set deep in the Amazon. Executive producers Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity),  Michael Green (Green Lantern), and Zack Estrin (Tru Calling), along with cast members Joe Anderson (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn), Eloise Mumford (Lone Star), and Leslie Hope (24), present an exclusive screening and a Q&A of their much-anticipated new series, The River. All attendees will get a limited-edition Comic-Con giveaway. Room 6A

I've heard cool things about this show even though I don't know a goddamn thing about it! I mean, maybe if I'm in the mood, I will check this out.

3:00-4:00 Image Comics Show- The folks from Image Comics present a slew of exclusive announcements about upcoming projects, updates on ongoing projects, and a Q&A session with some of the best writers working in comics. Find out about what Image is up to before anyone else does, get cool giveaways, and ask questions of your favorite creators! Panelists include David Baxter (Marksmen), John Layman ( Chew), Scott Snyder (Severed), Nick Spencer ( Morning Glories), Ben McCool (Pigs), and Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash). Room 25ABC

Maaaaaybe I should go to a real-live comics panel like this one, you know? I want to see Nick Spencer and John Layman in action!

3:30-4:30 Entertainment Weekly Presents...Totally LOST: One Year Later- EW's Lost gurus Jeff "Doc" Jensen and Dan "Dan" Snierson wax nostalgic about the past, perhaps with a surprise guest or two, and discuss how they're "moving on" in the wake of Lost's departure from the air a year ago. The duo will look to the future by previewing promising TV obsessions. Room 5AB

This sounds like a fun panel, and I am intrigued about surprise guests, given the various Lost stars who will be around for other panels, like Jorge Garcia and Michael Emerson.

4:00-5:00 Writing the Apocalypse: Genre Authors Explore the End Times (And the Fun That Comes After!)- The postapocalypse world has always been fodder for great horror and mystery works. Authors with recent books set in or around the not-so-distant but very dystopian future discuss their visions of what happens after most of the population dies. Take a look into the future with Mira Grant (The Newsflesh trilogy), Thomas Mullen (The Revisionists), Anna North (America Pacifica), Walter Greatshell (Xombies: Apocalypso), Richard Kadrey (Kill the Dead), Daniel Wilson (Robopocalypse), Isaac Marion (Warm Bodies), and Steven Schlozman (The Zombie Autopsies) as they depress moderator Maryelizabeth Hart of Mysterious Galaxy. Room 7AB

Another day, another chance to miss a Seanan panel!

4:00-6:30 Sony- Sony returns to Hall H with a stellar lineup of films and talent, including: Ghost Rider-Spirit of Vengeance -- After blazing a trail around the globe in the worldwide hit Ghost Rider, Nicolas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze in Columbia Pictures' Ghost Rider-Spirit of Vengeance. Still struggling with his curse as the devil's bounty hunter, Blaze is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider again, but it is the only way to protect the boy -- and possibly rid himself of his curse forever. Live on stage: directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank) and stars Nicolas Cage, Idris Elba, and Johnny Whitworth.

30 Minutes or Less -- From Ruben Fleischer, the director of Zombieland, comes the action comedy 30 Minutes or Less. In the movie, Nick (Jesse Eisenberg of The Social Network and Zombieland) is a small town pizza delivery guy whose mundane life collides with the big plans of two wannabe criminal masterminds (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson). The duo kidnap Nick and force him to rob a bank. With only a few hours to pull off the impossible task, Nick enlists the help of his ex-best friend, Chet (Aziz Ansari). As the clock ticks, the two must deal with the police, hired assassins, flamethrowers, and their own tumultuous relationship. Talent in attendance includes director Ruben Fleischer and stars Aziz Ansari, Nick Swardson, and Michael Peña.

Total Recall -- Welcome to Rekall, the company that with one little implant can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Doug Quaid (Colin Farrell), the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his ordinary existence. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. With the line between fantasy and reality blurred and the fate of his world hanging in the balance, Quaid goes on the run to discover his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. Based on Philip K. Dick's classic story "I Can Remember It for You Wholesale," this new take on some of his most visionary ideas is directed by Len Wiseman and stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, and John Cho, all of whom will be appearing.

The Amazing Spider-Man -- The Amazing Spider-Man is back on the big screen, shot in 3D for the first time, and will be swinging into your neighborhood on July 3, 2012. Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, and Martin Sheen, as well as Sally Field, and directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man's new creative team will be taking a whole new direction in the unfolding saga of everyone's favorite web-slinger. Appearing in person are producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, director Marc Webb, and our own Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy -- Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
Hall H

Okay, I mean, it's Hall H, and maybe I would have to give up my whole day to get into this panel, but LOOK AT ALL THOSE PEOPLE. This panel could be awesome!

6:00-7:00 Girls Gone Genre- Come talk with women who write, read, game, and perform in arenas that are statistically dominated by men. What happens when traditionally "male" genres are reinvented by female writers and embraced by female fans? Sex and the City it ain't. Meet the women who like to play with trucks and Barbies. And Wolverine action figures. And flux capacitors. Moderator Jenna Busch is joined by panelists Marti Noxon (screenwriter/producer, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Mad Men, Fright Night), Gale Anne Hurd (producer, The Walking Dead, Terminator, Aliens), and Marjorie Liu (writer, X-23, Daken: Dark Wolverine, Black Widow, Dirk & Steele novel series). Room 25ABC

So this was one of the best panels last year. But it doesn't look as promising this year, as the only returning member is Marti Noxon. Only three women, and I don't know the moderator.

8:00-10:00 World Premiere: Batman: Year One- Warner Home Video, Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Animation proudly present the World Premiere of Batman: Year One, the highly anticipated next entry in the ongoing series of DC Universe Animated Original Movies. Based on the landmark 1987 DC Comics titles from 12-time Eisner Award winner Frank Miller and illustrator David Mazzucchelli, Batman: Year One depicts young Bruce Wayne's return to Gotham City in his first attempts to fight injustice as a costumed vigilante. The playboy billionaire chooses the guise of a giant bat to combat crime, creates an early bond with a young Lieutenant James Gordon (who is already battling corruption from inside the police department), inadvertently plays a role in the birth of Catwoman, and helps bring down a crooked political system that infests Gotham. When the film ends, stay in your seats for a lively panel discussion amongst voice cast members Emmy Award winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Ben McKenzie (Southland), Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), executive producer Bruce Timm (DCU films), directors Lauren Montgomery (Superman/Batman: Apocalypse) and Sam Liu (All-Star Superman), and casting/dialogue director Andrea Romano (DCU films). Moderator Gary Miereanu will offer a first glimpse into the 2012 DC Universe Animated Original Movies slate, give away some exclusive prizes to inquisitive audience members, and quite possibly introduce a few surprise guests. Warner Home Video will distribute Batman: Year One on Blu-ray and DVD, OnDemand and For Download on October 18, 2011. Ballroom 20

So as much as I want to continue our traditional Red Pearl Kitchen dinner, this would be really cool to see, plus the panel afterward looks awesome. Bryan Cranston AS GORDON.

10:30-12:30 Captain America: The First Avenger- Conan has offered me free tickets! I like free movies! And it would be fun to see it with a Comic-Con crowd, even though I know jack shit about Captain America. UA Horton Plaza 14 (meet at Gaslamp Tavern@8ish)

SATURDAY

Oh, Saturday, YOU ARE ALWAYS TERRIBLE.

10:00-10:45 Chuck Screening and Q&A- Comic-Con fan-favorite Chuck returns with a bang for its farewell panel to celebrate its fifth and final season. I have yet to make it to an AOTS panel, and unless for some reason I am intimidated by the Ballroom 20 line and decide I have a better chance of making AOTS, I will probably miss it again.

11:00-12:00 Terra Nova- Star Stephen Lang (Avatar), executive producer Rene Echevarria (Castle, Medium, The 4400, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), executive producer Brannon Braga (24, Star Trek: Enterprise), and co-executive producer Jose Molina (Haven, Castle) premiere footage from the highly anticipated epic adventure series 85 million years in the making, set to premiere this September on FOX. Graham (Avatar the Last Airbender). Come for the conversation and stay for the cosplay contest. Santa Rosa Room, Marriott Marquis & Marina

I think some of the Mark Watches people (including Mark) will be here, so this could be fun to go to, although I have clue where that hotel is. But I will more likely be ensuring that I get into...

1:00-2:00 Community- The cast and creative team from Sony TV's critically acclaimed NBC series -- Joel McHale (The Soup), Chevy Chase (Hot Tub Time Machine), Donald Glover (30 Rock), Yvette Nicole Brown (Rules of Engagement), Danny Pudi (Greek), Gillian Jacobs (Choke), Jim Rash (Reno 911), and Ken Jeong (The Hangover Part II), and executive producers Dan Harmon (The Sarah Silverman Program), Joe Russo (Arrested Development), Anthony Russo (Arrested Development), Neil Goldman (Scrubs), Garrett Donovan (Scrubs) and Russ Krasnoff (The Soloist) -- come together for an animated discussion and Q&A session about what's in store for viewers this fall! There's no way I'm making this panel, but, you know, I am glad that it exists, and I wish I could split myself into many pieces, because it sounds really interesting.

3:00-4:00 Dark Horse: Joss Whedon- Long before signing on to helm one of the most anticipated superhero films in history, Joss Whedon rewarded fans the world over with some of the most compelling characters and plot lines in the history of comics, television, and movies. Here's your chance to find out what he has in store for us next, including a sneak peek at the brand-new Angel & Faith and Buffy Season 9 comics, plus exciting news about Buffy digital comics! Indigo Ballroom, Hilton San Diego Bayfront

Even though I do not want to hear about the goddamn comics, Joss panels are always fun!

But, well, look at this:

4:00-5:00 Finally! Nickelodeon: The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra: Exclusive First Look- Creator team Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, co-executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos, supervising producer Ki-Hyun Ryu, and composing team Ben Wynn and Jeremy Zuckerman give an exclusive sneak peek at the continuation of this element-bending saga. Wyman for a Q&A with fans and an exclusive video presentation. From Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, Fringe airs Fridays at 9/8c on FOX, and Fringe: The Complete Third Season will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on September 6. Ballroom 20

Three of my most-anticipated panels, ALL AT THE SAME TIME. Even though the Guild panel would be the most efficient, since I'm going to be in that room for Community anyway, and Joss is before, and even though Fringe has good stuff after it...seriously, it's Korra. I have a renewed love of Avatar thanks to Mark Watches, so I am PUMPED UP.

5:00-6:00 Signing with Joss Whedon- I mean, I already met Joss, but...still. Exhibit Hall, Dark Horse Booth #2615 (Ticketed event: see Dark Horse employee for details.)

5:15-6:00 Alcatraz Pilot Screening and Q&A- Catch a special pilot screening of Alcatraz, a chilling new thriller centering on America's most infamous prison and the mysterious return of its most notorious criminals. When an Alcatraz inmate is discovered walking the streets of present-day San Francisco -- not having aged a bit since the 1960s -- a sinister threat begins to unravel. Where have these prisoners been? Why are they back? After the screening, there will be a special Q&A with Alcatraz writer and executive producer Elizabeth Sarnoff (Lost) and series stars Sarah Jones (Sons of Anarchy) and Jorge Garcia (Lost). From Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Alcatraz will air midseason on FOX. Ballroom 20

6:45-7:30 Person of Interest Pilot Screening and Q&A- A peerless creative team is behind this new white-knuckle action series -- including creator/executive producer Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight) and showrunner/executive producer Greg Plageman (Cold Case) -- about an ex-CIA agent, presumed dead, who partners with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes in New York City. Join these producers plus stars Jim Caviezel (The Thin Red Line), Michael Emerson (Lost), and Taraji P. Henson (Academy Award nominee, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) for an inside look at one of the most anticipated new shows of the fall season, including an exclusive screening of the pilot episode and Q&A. From Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Person of Interest will air Thursdays at 9/8c on CBS. Room 6BCF

If I sit through some panels I'm not interested in, I can catch this pilot, or...I can do other things?

7:30-8:30 The Art of the Hollywood Movie Poster- Who are the talented artists Hollywood has tapped for the creation of some of the best movie posters in recent history? Leslie Combemale (film art expert and owner, ArtInsights Animation and Film Art Gallery) moderates a panel of artists who have worked on hundreds of movie posters and movie campaigns, including Andrea Alvin (Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Pinocchio poster artist, wife and artistic partner of late cinema art legend John Alvin), Matthew Peak (Nightmare on Elm Street poster artist, son of famed movie poster artist Bob Peak), Steve Chorney (Labyrinth, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Star Trek), James Goodridge (Inglorious Basterds, Harry Potter), and Lawrence Noble (The Empire Strikes Back 10th Anniversary, Time After Time, Flash Gordon). They will relay stories of the creation of some well-recognized and most appreciated movie posters, discuss the current atmosphere of the world of cinema art, and offer suggestions for artists who wish to take up the craft. This panel will include a short Q&A. Room 8

I love movie posters! This could be interesting, if we have no other plans!

7:45-8:45 MythBusters- A Comic-Con fan favorite, MythBusters is back with their traditional Saturday evening panel. Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman, Tory Belleci, Grant Imahara, and Kari Byron talk about their recent exploits and upcoming fall Mythbuster-y goodness! Room 6BCF

Or I could go see my BFF Adam Savage and ask him to spell fabaceae.

SUNDAY

Ah, quiet, quiet Sunday. Mostly.

11:15-12:15 Supernatural Screening and Q&A- For the first time ever, the Supernatural panel will be in Hall H! Series stars Jared Padalecki (Friday the 13th [2009]) and Jensen Ackles (My Bloody Valentine 3D) and additional cast members and executive producers present an exclusive sneak peek at footage from the highly anticipated seventh season of this thrill-ride series. The panel will answer questions from the audience, show a portion of the special features from the upcoming Supernatural: The Complete Sixth Season DVD and Blu-ray release (in stores September 13), and give Comic-Con fans a sneak peek at Supernatural: The Anime Series, coming to DVD and Blu-ray on July 26. Supernatural airs Fridays at 9/8c on The CW and is produced by Wonderland Sound and Vision in association with Warner Bros. Television. Hall H

I'm not as into Supernatural as I used to be, really, and I don't look forward to an embarrassing Q&A, but I will be in this room already, after all. Because...

12:30-1:30 BBC America's Doctor Who- Stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, along with writers and producers, make their first Comic-Con appearance for a panel and Q&A! They're bringing exclusive new footage of the new season to be shown ahead of its late summer return on BBC America. Doctor Who follows the adventures of the Doctor, the mysterious traveler who journeys throughout all of time and space, picking up companions along the way and almost always sidestepping danger. From award-winning lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat and starring BAFTA nominee Matt Smith as the Doctor and Karen Gillan as his companion Amy Pond, the second season's Part One delivered record ratings for BBC America and marked the first time Doctor Who filmed on American soil. Also starring Arthur Darvill and Alex Kingston, the Part One finale ended with the unveiling of a massive secret and the words "Let's Kill Hitler" on screen. Part One is now available on Blu-ray/DVD/iTunes, and Part Two premieres late summer on BBC America's Supernatural Saturdays. The panel will be moderated by Adam Rogers, senior editor, WIRED magazine. Hall H

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

2:00-3:00 Max Brooks: Zombie Survival 101- Max Brooks, screenwriter and author of bestselling books The Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z, and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks, is the world's leading authority on the defense against a ghoulish uprising! Renowned for his campus and convention lectures nationwide, Brooks comes to Comic-Con to share his insight into the rotting minds of the undead, reveal how the Zombie Survival Guide came into existence, and field questions from zombie-phobic fans. You dare not miss this lecture -- your very life may depend on it! Room 7AB

Maybe I could see a full panel? He was entertaining for the half a panel I saw him.

2:00-3:00 Cover Story: The Art of the Cover- Comic-Con's annual Cover Story panel explores what it takes to make a great cover. This year, moderator Mark Evanier talks to special guests Ernie Chan (known for his incredible run of DC covers in the 1970s), Jo Chen (Buffy the Vampire Slayer covers for Dark Horse), Alan Davis (numerous covers for Marvel), Dave Gibbons (his groundbreaking Watchmen covers integrated the cover with the story inside), Jeff Smith (Bone, RASL), and Ashley Wood (Popbot, World War Robot, Zombies vs. Robots) about their cover work and what makes a great cover. Room 25ABC

I love comic book covers! This could be really interesting! Especially if I miss the Jo Chen panel!

2:00-3:00 Signing with Javier Grillo-Marxuach- Ramiel Special Edition! Exhibit Hall, APE Booth #1804

2:15-3:00 Signing with Nathan Fillion- This is a Castle signing, and I doubt I will even be around at the time, but, you know, good to keep an eye on Nathan Fillion. Exhibit Hall, Marvel Entertainment Booth #2329

2:45-3:45 High School Bites- Let's face it: High school sucks enough without having to add a constant thirst for blood, going all furry under a full moon, or being hunted by all of the above. But for these YA authors, going back to high school was the best decision they ever made. Scott Westerfeld (The Uglies series), Laini Taylor (Daughter of Smoke and Bone), Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia (Beautiful Creatures, Beautiful Darkness), Debbie Viguie (Once Upon a Time series), Anna Carey (Eve), and Heather Brewer (The Vlad Tod series) discuss their characters' formative years with moderator Maryelizabeth Hart of Mysterious Galaxy. Room 5AB

I'm finishing up the Uglies books now, specifically because of Scott Westerfeld, so this panel is on my radar.

4:00-5:00 Signing with Scott Westerfeld and Co.- But which Uglies book to get signed? Autograph Area, AA3

4:00-5:00 The Superhero Battlefield- What drives superheroes to keep fighting the good fight without getting burned out, disillusioned, or transforming into villains themselves? Trauma psychologist Dr. Andrea Letamendi (UCLA) explores the minds of your favorite comic book heroes and villains, linking them with the very real minds of actual trauma survivors. Alongside Dr. Letamendi are fellow psychologists Dr. Robin Rosenberg (The Psychology of Superheroes) and Dr. Travis Langley (Batman in his Belfry), as well as guest panelists including writer Len Wein (Swamp Thing). Room 4

Like that other panel, this one sounds interesting, although by this time, I may not have the brainpower to appreciate it.

4:00-5:00 Buffy the Musical- Let's end this show with a bang! The powers that be behind Fandom Charities Inc. and Whedonopolis.com present a screening of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode "Once More With Feeling" as Comic-Con 2011's big Hall H closing event! Many say this is the finest, funniest, most ingenious episode ever to come out of the Buffyverse. But remember, the best part of the show is up to you! This episode was made for talkin' -- back, that is -- and singing and shouting and dancing in the aisles, with or without your dry cleaning! Audience participation: it isn't just for Rocky Horror and mob riots anymore. Hall H

Always there, never go. But who knows?

The Autograph Alley schedule hasn't been posted yet, so who knows if someone really cool will come and ask me to pay to take a picture with them! I also need to find out when Nick Spencer is signing. I am trying not to overschedule this year (hence the more discerning use of green and red), but there are so many cool panels all the time!

felicia day, joss whedon, javier grillo-marxuach, pimpings, comic-con, real life friends, personal
