Battlestar Galactica? More Like "Battlestar Scralatchtica"!

So. I had heard nothing but good things about BSG, but I hadn't caught the miniseries back in the day, and I was watching a lot of shows already, so the first season passed me by.

But now is the summer of my discontent, and kieyra uploaded the mini for me. The volume was really really low, but I tried not to hold that against it. I watched it last ( Read more... )

Man, how can you be so uncaring about Helo? He's Heloooo. He's AWESOME. Helo segments are always highlights for me. I loved him from the moment we met him in the mini and I knew that he loved Boomer and she was taken up with Gimblesex. And then he sacrificed himself for the good of humanity! But was duped because it was fucking Gilderoy the Traitor of Ineptitude! That sucks so much, and then he was so brave and awesome and finally got his Boomerlove awwwwww.

So even if the Helo storyline does nothing for you, I love it, and I hate everything Baltar-related because he sucks and I want him to die, so I guess that kind of proves how well the show uses the ensemble format: there's something for everyone.

And why, in the future, have humans reverted to worshipping the Greek gods?"All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again ( ... )

Haaa. I find it terribly amusing that we are complete opposites on Helo and Baltar.

Which is not to say, necessarily, that it is the future at all. Personally, I think it's the past.

I thought about that, the idea that these people were going to end up colonizing Earth, but then I decided it didn't seem to make sense cause of the evolution of humanity and all. They would have to become cavemen and lose all their technology and instincts in order for that to work.

The KLG1 teaser is definitely lovely.

Yeah, that does throw a wrench in it, doesn't it? And yet...it doesn't feel like the future to me, either. I think I'm happiest thinking it's vaguely past-y and sort of in an alternate dimension and mostly I don't care, because it's fictional and stuff.

I don't actually have time to reply more right now (though I'm glad you like the show - it's awesome! And - whoa, 11.5 hours? Don't think I could do that!) but the original BSG, they actually suggested heavily that these were the predecessors of Earth. Including the suggestion that the gods of the colonies became the Greek gods of Earth, and that they were the precursors to the Aztec/Egyptian/other advanced historical civilizations. The new series doesn't so much explore this idea, so I'm unclear as to whether this is supposed to be post-Earth or pre-Earth. I'm not sure they even intend to be clear on that. But the original series was definitely supposed to be either pre-or-parallel Earth.

Garth keeps bugging me to watch that show - he and our friend Bee have a regular Friday night thing where they watch the new episodes together. But since I haven't had Friday nights free for like a year I haven't yet... but I'm gonna start real soon! Yay!

I did see it! That was so cool! And finally, a picture! A side view, but still, physicality!

And whee for Baltar! I'm reading the recaps, and Strega likes him too, so that makes three of us.

It's pretty awesome all in one day, really.

The thing about "Act of Contrition" is I think Starbuck's flashbacks start before the funeral and the student-training. They seem to be triggered Flattop's death in general, which was good. But whatever, I like flashbacks. More than you. Heh.

I thought I would like Helo's story, but I got tired of it really quickly. But looking it as a black comedy is amusing.

And I'm noticing in your recaps that you're "partial" to the idea that Six is Baltar's subconscious. I didn't realize there was an actual option for her not to be. I love the way she's written to be a little ambiguous, but there's that great scene in the mini where she points to the Cylon transponder and says "it hasn't blown up...YET. I'm just guessing." It's clear that the holes in Six's knowledge are the holes in Baltar's knowledge. There would be no reason for a real Six to have those holes, especially since Baltar obviously can't tell the difference. He think she's a subconscious manifestation, but I think he'd be perfectly ( ... )

Why put your faith in lies when you can put your faith in the ARROW OF APOLLO?

And as seen in the beginning of KLG1, Starbuck spends a whooooole lot of time thinking about Apollo's Arrow that's for damn sure.

*shifty*

I'M SORRY NO ONE HAD MADE THE JOKE YET ON THIS ENTRY!

I'm not sure why Kalbear is "wowza" about the teaser

Two words: Hot pilotsex.

Oh, and clever, ironic editing.

So, I guess it's five words.
