I am totally butting into this conversation, because I have never seen a deep fried oreo. Is this fair food? Because I feel really deprived now. The deep fried oreo is the first of these randomly fried things that sounds interesting to me. Are they good? How does the creamy filling stand up? I can't believe that Louisiana doesn't have them. I must be looking in the wrong places.
This stuff is usually fair food. The only places I've ever seen it is at the Oklahoma State Fair and the Medieval Fair in Norman. There's usually deep-fried Twinkies, Oreos, Snickers, and I think I've even seen deep-fried cheesecake once. I've never had any of them as I usually get funnel cake, but I've heard that the deep-fried Oreos are particularly good. You usually find them at bigger venues, I think. The Pecan Festival in my hometown of Okmulgee never had them, but the State Fairs do. I'm sure you can replicate it in a Fry Daddy if you wanted to. There's got to be a recipe online somewhere.
Deep-fried snickers is the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in my life (and I've had the twinkies, too.)
Also, I am going to friend you, if that is okay with you.
