I was never very interested in Six Feet Under when it was on, as it didn't seem to appeal to me at all (some show about a family who owns a funeral home? O...kay, good for them). About the only thing it had going for it as far as I knew was that it was created by Alan Ball, and I had loved American Beauty. Over the years, several things happened

David was also my favorite, ultimately. I loved him and Keith a lot. And the magical realism brought us Claire's pantyhose song, so I can't complain.
I'd heard so much about how powerful the finale was (like in an essay by my T.A. I had a huge crush on) that I was entirely prepared to be underwhelmed. But... yeah, I bawled. The show's so well-written and well-directed and watching it all at once had me so immersed in that world that it was hard to let it go. That doesn't happen to me too often anymore.

Yeah, I think I'll pass.

Yay!

There were times when I was afraid they would be apart forever and then I checked to see that Mathew St. Charles was still a regular. Same with Rachel Griffiths and the Nate/Brenda situation.

Hee. That was awesome. It did have its moments, for sure.

Ooh. I liked that. I wonder about that question myself, although I'm not enjoying Dexter less week-by-week instead of all in one day. But it would be a different experience. I was spoiled about the death and the mind-blowing montage, too (but the death still surprised me, because I thought it happened in the finale). It's interesting to read some of those articles, what people were saying about the show when it aired. I'm glad some of my assessments match up with ( ... )

That's on Showtime, so no commercials, right? I feel like everything comes across stronger when it's uninterrupted, which is a big reason I prefer DVDs.
I have Dexter on hold at the library, but I'm... #131 in line for nine copies. It might be a while.
And well acted!
Oh, of course. I think you said this already, but even when the characters were being shitheads, they were such believable shitheads. Like, I hated both Brenda and Nate sometimes, but the scene where they break their engagement ("There. Barf.") is just amazing.
The one glaring exception in my mind was Ruth's Russian boss/boyfriend, who was both annoying as a character and had a distractingly bad accent. I hated him and wanted him to go away.

Right. But that's irrelevant when comparing to other premium channel shows.

Yeah, they were just people. And people can be shitheads sometimes.

Hee. He was pretty annoying as a character (holy sexual harassment, Batman!), but for some reason, I found his accent terribly endearing.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't have known Rachel Griffiths wasn't American if I hadn't read it somewhere.
