So I'm in Las Vegas for my dad's friend's birthday. And it's boring. Like, really boring. I'm glad I was only here for a day. Let's go examine the schedule, shall we?
9/28/07 11:30pm - I arrived, tired as fuck and ready to fall asleep. The problem: only one bed to share between me and my brother. Fortunately it's pretty wide, so I never came into direct contact, but still, ugh.
9/29/07 10:00 - I woke up. I sat around on my internetless computer for an hour before exploring the hotel (the MGM Grand). It's mostly a giant casino with a bunch of bars (alcohol + gambling = profit for casino). I did happen to find an arcade though, which was fun for about an hour. Then I realized that I probably shouldn't have spent a 20 on tokens, because there was no way I was gonna be able to use them all during one day. Little did I know how wrong I was.
12:00 - My parents explained to me that they hadn't come up with a plan for the day. I was totally shocked .
12:10 - I get bored and decided to pony up for the craptacular internet. This leads to much random dicking around on the internets.
1:30 - Everyone involved in the birthday (including me) went to lunch at this Wolfgang Puck place where I'm served the weirdest tasting pizza ever. We came up with a bunch of ideas of things to do (I really wanted to see the Blue Man Group, which happened to be there for a week). I get bored with the other people, who are talking about such fascinating topics as "golf" and "the good old days"
2:30 - I went to the arcade again, and managed to use all of my tokens. All of them, out of the 80 I had when I started. I was there for a while, and it got really boring, really fast.
5:30 - Having just used all my tokens, I wandered up to my room and proceeded to do absolutely nothing for a while.
6:30 - It was decided that we'd go see a magic show at Planet Hollywood. And by "we" I meant my mom, my brother, and the wife and son of another one of my dad's friends. Everyone else got to see Cirque Du Soliel's "Ka" show.
7:00 - The magic show was pretty lame. There were more scantily clad dancing women than actual magic, and while some people may have appreciated it, I did not (NOTE TO ANY PERFORMER/SHOW EVER: Objectifying women is one of the last things you could possibly do to make me interested or respect you more). The actual "magician" sucked, and took himself way to seriously. The most entertaining thing was the fact that the audience was so totally incompetent that any instructions that the magician gave to anybody had to be repeated at least 3 times, and usually demonstrated for them.
8:30 - The show ended (thank god) and I wandered around Planet Hollywood for a while, which was pretty cool, since it was basically a gigantic mall. Too bad everything cost about twice it's actual worth, otherwise I may have bought something. For instance, my brother bought two cheap-ass pairs of sunglasses for fifty dollars. Genius.
10:30 - Everyone tried to coordinate dinner, which failed miserably. My family sans my brother went to this Asian place that was all kinds of delicious (think PF Chang's but also with sushi).
11:30 - I was told that I have to get up at 4:30am tomorrow, as our plane leaves at 6am. Not fun. I went back up to my room to sleep, but got on the computer instead. Funny how things work out like that.
Now - I'm updating because I have nothing better to do (who needs sleep?)
In all, the only things that have made this trip bearable are 1) The new Foo Fighters album (maybe my new favorite album, we'll see once the hype settles down) and 2) The new Hard-Fi album, which is totally awesome. Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy my Sunday when I get back, but something tells me my massive amount of homework won't allow it.
