Few points:

Stupidity is relative, as is intelligence. If the whole world was full of people as smart as me, then I'd be considered stupid and the standard for 'smart' might be more on the level of Einstein or something.

Second, and this is said without any actual knowledge of the brain....but I have to imagine its not as cut and dry as "smart person 1 + smart person 2= really smart person!". I mean, to use an extreme example- look at certain forms of insanity that mostly involve a person being completely catatonic but able to do one thing better than anyone else. People's brains are built in different ways- different parts in one person are probably way more awesome than other parts in another....man, that's a crappy description...ANYWAY. My point is, some people might be smarter than others, but everyone's got their own individual "flavors" of smart. More importantly, just as I'm supposing some parts of the mind might make a person smarter in certain capacities, I also propose we're all complete idiots in others. Likewise, people who seem to be complete morons might be hiding a genius when they're in their 'niche'.

And last...I think part of the point my be that some of the ills we experience in society aren't a matter of intelligence. I mean...Hitler was a pretty smart guy, as well as a monster. And I can't imagine everyone in the Nazi party was a giant moron...there must have been plenty of intelligent people who decided to follow this man knowing full what the things he was proposing. In the comic, the whole point might be that some of the things we assume are a matter of intelligence might just be human nature...like looking for an authority figure to follow. Let's not forget, the more intelligent you are the better you are at making rational excuses for something you know deeper down is wrong. It takes more to be a decent human being than a brilliant mind, I think...well, more and less, since I know plenty of decent human beings that are honestely kinda moronic some of the time.

All that said....I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to have kids, or wanting them to be little bitty Einsteins.
