Notes: Written for je_prompts Pompt was RISK.  This is kind of random but I got a little excited about doing je_prompts and wrote this  a little too quickly.

Shige realised that the odds weren't in his favour in this endeavour. There was less than a year between their ages and he still felt like a tiny kohai when it came to dealing with Kamenashi. He was respected, purely professional, a brilliant actor, a gorgeous singer, and a flawless model. Beyond that he was also well known for his liaisons with women.
Shige was smart enough to understand that his chances were all but non-existent, so why the hell had he let his bandmates talk him into this?

Shige took a deep breath and decided he didn't need this aggravation. He turned on his heel, entirely ready to give up before he began, but in doing so found himself face to face by his five bandmates as they peered around the corner at him. Yamashita and Nishikido were glaring at him in disappointment, Koyama was using his sad eyes, Massu was still smiling encouragingly as though he hadn't realised that Shige was giving up, but at the end of it all, it was Tegoshi's pitying face that really affected him. Somehow Shige found himself spinning around once again and marching into the break room.

"Kamenashi-san?"

Kamenashi looked up from the coffee machine and smiled.

"Hello Kato-kun. Do you want a cup? TOKIO bought in a whole range of fancy flavours to share. I was just about to brew some of the chocolate macadamia coffee."

"There's such a thing as chocolate macadamia coffee?" Maybe there was a reason why his classmates called his usual coffee nasty after all, "I've only ever had instant."

"Seriously?" Kamenashi didn't wait for a response. Instead he picked up a second cup and busily started tinkering with the shiny machine before him.

When he was done Shige was waved into a chair and presented with a steaming cup of coffee that smelt like a gift from the gods. He took a small sip but completely forgot to taste it thanks to Kamenashi's intent stare.

"How do you like it?"

Shige blushed at not having an answer and quickly took another sip, really tasting it this time.

Wow!

"I think I love you."

Kamenashi laughed at that and took a sip from his own cup while Shige desperately tried to calm his own blush.

They sat like that for several minutes; in a silence that wasn't awkward but wasn't quite companionable either. Shige took another sip and realised that his coffee was more than half gone.  If he didn't say something soon, he was going to lose his chance.

"Good Morning." Massu breezed into the room and tucked a neatly labelled bento into a hard-to-notice corner of the fridge.

"Morning Masuda." Kame chirped back. Shige only managed a stilted nod in his friend's direction.

"Ne, Kame-kun, could you tell Maru that I can make it if he still wants to go shopping at lunch; he never remembers to check his messages before his break."

"Sure."

"Thanks."

Massu walked toward the door but stopped and turned to Shige before he left mouthing 'ganbatte' complete with fist pump before leaving completely.

Shige couldn't help but smile at Massu's high-school-buddy style support.

"What are you smiling about?"

"Nothing, just Massu coming in here to encourage me. My bandmates are trying to get me to risk my pride and ask you out but I know you prefer women so I'm avoiding that topic."

Shige wanted the world to swallow him up. Why couldn't he think before he spoke? Why?

"Ah," Kame put down his coffee cup and leant forward a little, "And what makes you think that I'm only interested in women?"

"U-Um, well, the rumours, mainly."

"Some of the rumours were true. I've dated women before but I'm not exclusively interested in them. I grew up as a Johnny after all. It's never been about gender with me. I'm more interested in someone I can have an intelligent conversation with."

"Oh."

Shige's mind went blank. What did that mean? Was Kamenashi actually telling Shige to ask him out?

A slip of paper was pushed across the table with a phone number and address written on it. Shige stared at it and then up at Kamenashi.

"Friday night. Pick me up at eight," Kame smiled and Shige nodded dumbly, "Are you alright Kato-kun?"

"Massu warned you that I was going to ask you out today."

"H-how do you know that?"

"You weren't surprised at all. Not even the innocent kind of surprised and there's no way you could have known me well enough to know I was interested. You even had your details written down."

"It could have been Yamapi."

"He wouldn't bother. I'm his bandmate and we get along well enough but we're not that close. Massu's my friend and he seems to get along well with you."

Kame gave a satisfied little snort and moved to put their coffee cups in the dishwasher.

"You're even smarter than I thought. Make sure to book a resturant where we can talk properly, ne."

Kamenashi squeezed Shige's shoulder and strutted out of the break room.

Shige gaped. What the hell had just happened? He didn't know whether he ought to be angry that Massu had undermined him, grateful that Massu cared enough to help out or just plain terrified that he only had two days to prepare for a date with Kamenashi Kazuya.
