This weekend definitely had its lows, along with its, "holy shit, it just can't get any better!" highs. All in all, balancing the pros and the cons, I consider it a success.
The thesis show opened on Friday, and I've never had more attention paid to me. So overwhelming...hundreds of people were there. It was nice being in the spotlight for an evening, though. One of my paintings sold for $700, which is so exciting. Another one is spoken for as well, the one on the Guilford site. I never before felt like I could actually make a living off this stuff, but now I might be reconsidering. My dad came just to be there for me, and Elissa, Landry, and Julia F. stayed by my side for the entire 2 hours, which I am so grateful for. It was a fun time, and there was great food, and afterwards my dad took me and my roommates out for the perfect meal at Sweet Basils.
Things went downhill after that, what with saying goodbye indefinitely to Jen, which was really hard, being too sober for a Friday night, and getting bit by Brutus AGAIN. I fucking hate that dog. He broke the skin and bruised the rest of my hand, and now two of my fingers have to be taped together so the wound doesn't open.
I took a personal day on Saturday to recover from all the stress of the past week. I enjoyed the breezy/hot weather by the lake, and even allowed myself to get a little high. I've noticed that since thesis is done I can breathe easier and stand a little straighter. I also feel like I have way too much free time on my hands. But that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying it immensely.
However there is still work to be done. A lot of it. So....I guess....I'll just do it....in a little while.
