"Ah, The Mighty Chipmunk - Fearless, Cunning and sworn enemy of the Mord'Sith"

Jan 25, 2010 13:12

I felt like doing a recap on 'Legend of the Seeker' episode Dark because, I don't know why. But I just felt in the mood to start re-capping stuff. *shrugs* Sharing is caring and LotS is LOVE so...when you spin that around and shake it up, I suppose it's really just a huge - "I love you guys!!" - So, actually, on second thought...perhaps I need a blood test. I swear I'm not drunk, but if anyone slipped me a mickey, I have no idea. Anywho, on to the fun!

I have to say, after hitting the "Play" button I became somewhat dubious of this episode. Of course, it proved to be completely unfounded and not only because the ep that preceeded it, completely knocked my socks off and therefore should have set the bar, but because where do I really get off doubting this awesome? Really? Obviously I didn't check I had switched my brain on today. *shrugs*

Anyway, the dubiousness came from the weird red-nuns that actually kind of creeped me out, with a touch of a Diva Plava Laguna vibe, coming from the veils and the music. Little chills, just little chills. Right up the spine. Of course, then I remembered that the Diva's singing voice is BEYOND AMAZING and decided, yep, nothing like it. Plus, the Diva wore blue, not red. But, apart from the creepy red-nuns, I'm really liking this Verna. Yep, her snarkiness, it is refreshing and her making fun of the super-annoying nun, Priceless.

Richard is living with the weird red-nuns!! Oh my! But hey, he gets his own digs - Dude, your own bedroom complete with a door or a blanket on the dirt with that leather-clad Mother Confessor of yours? I leave the choice to you. Get back to me before the ep is out.

I commend this show for having an adorable shippy moment without actually having the characters together. Yes, it was the somewhat dodgy youtube screen squishy that we thought we'd be done with back in "Light" but it serves it's purpose and we get to have our lovelies on screen at the same time! Me. No. Complain!
Awww, so cute. She's practically hugging that sword and Richard. Aw, my little shipper heart goes !bouncy!bouncy!bouncy! gotta love epic long-distance love stories. Screw you Wizard-Han!! Richard needs to be back there with Kahlan.

Cara and Kahlan - ILU!♥♥
Totally the best Not!BFF's on TV. And I adored this scene. It's weird how it's simplicity shows both, how much Cara's changed and just how much she still needs to grow, lol. I ♥ it.
And I don't think these ladies are out of Character at all! I mean, Kahlan is sitting on the ground weeping over a sword. But then she stands up and these ladies look fierce! And all she did was stand up!

Cara: "Something wrong?"
Kahlan: "I miss Richard."
Cara: "Why?"
Kahlan: "I love him. I'm not used to being apart from him."
Cara: "It's not necessary to feel pain over his absence."
Kahlan: "Do you feel anything?"
Cara: "Mord'sith believe emotions must be governed. Saddness, remorse, love; these feelings make you weak. Anger, loyalty, pride; these feelings make you powerful. I can teach you how to control your emotions, if you'd like."
Kahlan: "I'm not sure love makes a person weak, Cara."
Cara: "Then why are you sitting on the ground, weeping, over a sword?"

LOL!! I ♥ Cara so much! You crack me up, chika!

Is it weird that I like old!Shota better than annoying, younger!i'll-tell-you-what-suits-me!Shota? I don't know why, but Shota really bugs me. I guess it's because she's not that awesome, ambiguously evil Krycek kind of bad, she's just that annoying kind of bad!good that pisses you off. One minute she's helpful, the next minute she's saying that Kahlan is gonna go and betray them (like pfft, yeah right!) And then she's all smug, I-told-you-so Zeddicus! Gah, *scrunches nose* not fond, not fond at all. But the creek is pretty.

More of the scary red-nuns with their lanterns, walking around as though there are a million places they need to be, lol. Sure, they're magical and most of them are good, but really...how much work really needs to be done that requires groups of four wandering around?
Nicci, ooooo, evil. Not fond of you, m'girl. I picked it from the get-go, I don't think you're gonna be all that nice at all. I havent't read the books, so it remains that I could be cataclysmically wrong. But I'm going to go with the Gibbs-gut on this one and say - you Chicky, are a bad egg. And hey, what do you know, I'm surprised Richard didn't slap your head off when you told him it's possible ten years could pass for Kahlan before he gets out of there. Oh, honey, if you'd have known how much he wanted to slap a bitch! You'd have ducked.

Verna!!! *shakes head* You wanted to keep the secret from Richard so you could make sure he'd leave Kahlan behind?!! His purpose is more important than finding a secret loop-hole in which he and The-Future-Mrs-Cypher can do the nasty without repercussions?!! FAIL!VERNA! We all know, as well as everyone else in the Midlands, that the 'Quest' is code for finding the loop-hole and you locking him up here? Gonna make for a cranky Seeker!! I'm very disappointed in you.
But hey, walls of prophecy, nice. And points for Richard (you poor boy, I didn't give you many in the first season, but yay! you're making up for it EPICALLY this year)
Richard: "I'm not going to let my life be ruled by somebody's interpretation of some carvings on a wall!"
Verna: "Because of these carvings I gave up half of my life, just to bring you here.
Richard: "And if I stay, I'm giving up the love of my life."

EE! HE HE! *cackles* I love Cara's formal greeting!! You touch my horse, I KEEL YOU! ROTFLOL. But, I will say that in this moment I was seriously - WTF?! about this new guy. I mean, what a way to sum up a whole month, in a list of things they walked on, said by Zedd in two seconds. Nice epicness there, guys/sarcasm. But did anyone else notice Cara's woobie-face for Kahlan when the guy asked if Richard was dead and Kahlan answered a little too fast? I loved that!!!
He can read the book of Counted Shadows - woo...hoo *less than enthused* Dude, seriously...punch it up a little! Oh, there we go, Kahlan's pretty and Cara's snark to the rescue.

Cara: *reluctant* "Sorry about your neck."

Naming a new Seeker? Okay, visually, it really doesn't stop being cool. But it not being Richard in the centre of that little fire circle. NOT COOL, DUDES! Kahlan looks pretty though and Cara seems to have a boy-crush...colour me intrigued.

Zedd: "Trying to show chivalry to a Mord'Sith is like trying to dance with a bear. It's never going to work and someone's likely to get their head bitten off."

Yay, obligatory fight scene!! Although, while they were still epic and Kahlan and Cara's hair were still epic, there was a lack of epicness there. I know what it was, but I'll stop harping on about that. We know Richard is the true Seeker, there is nothing to be bitter about. OMG! Did anyone notice the funny look Kahlan gave the new guy when he pulled out the sword. Probably a mix of - that's my man's sword, don't you scuff it. And - Crap, now I've only got one dagger. Damn, i'm going to have to use my nails and I just got a manicure - woobie. (Pics 3-4, anyone draw comparison to "Destiny" and the final fight scene?? Kahlan watching and Richard in slow-mo? Take a squiz, it's such a parallel there. Cara is in looooove.)

OMG! LEO STAY! I LOVE YOU!!! ♥♥♥
I love this scene!! This scene is up there with a K&R moment!! So adorable!! And Cara laughed, O.M.G. *dies* And I just love that Kahlan's laying there in wait to make fun of Cara when she gets back, lol. They're so cute!
Leo: "Could you train a chipmunk?"
Cara: "What are you talking about?"
Leo: "To obey your orders, attack people? Probably too hard, right? Ah, the mighty chipmunk. Fearless, cunning and sworn enemy of the Mord'sith. Not even the touch of an Agiel could break it's tiny, but heroic heart."
Cara: *laughs*
Leo: "Ah, so you do have a sense of humour."
Cara: *stops laughing* "You were right."
Leo: "About what?"
Cara: "If i'm laughing at your ridiculous jokes, I must be tired."
Leo: "Sleep well. And don't worry, I'll protect you from the chipmunks."

Cara's totally out of character, if you want her to stay exactly the same. But I personally saw this as another little crack in the shell that Richard's been working through. Cara's been opening up, really slowly. But now, maybe because she likes this new guy and maybe because Richard was off-limits as far as getting any closer goes, maybe she'll open up more to Leo. I, personally, like that she's changing. She's still badass though and totally shouldn't over-take Kahlan in an episode ever again! But I liked this insight into her coming around from the darkside a little more.

Eeee, hehe. I do like Verna, I know I've said that. But haha, Richard's all and entirely ready to sacrifice the mean red-nuns to to Nicci if he doesn't get his Kahlan back! "The THIGHS! woman!! You dragged me away the day she put on the dress with the BARE THIGHS!" Probably for the best, considering that whole confession thing but, meh, that can be sorted later.

Cara: "Is the air putting up much of a fight?"

Chasing the lady of the lightdark, grab her, poke her with a stick, sick your super!awesome Confessor on her and she nearly wets her panties. Awww, don't sever your wind pipe, Kahlan only wants to play with you!

Okay, i'm seriously annoyed by Nicci! She bothers me, beyond...okay, maybe it's my natural indifference toward Jolene Blalock that plays a stronger part in that, but she's evil damnit!! Richard!! *shakes head* Oh, cool lightening bolts though! I can understand this. I mean, Richard didn't want to be a Wizard because seriously, how many flippin titles does he have already?! Sometimes I think it's over the top that Richard's the saviour of all, when really, it's Kahlan that does all the work. *gives too much credit* Richard does revert a little to a baby-boy when the going gets tough sometimes (except for the super fighting skills and the killer abs of DOOM!) I just mean, sometimes he gets a little immature. But then here, with the weird red-nuns and crazy Nicci, he's actually pretty smart about the whole situation. And I found that to be good. I liked that.
VERNA HITS YOU WTIH A RADAHAN! COP THAT BIATCH! *applauds Verna* I like Verna. And I love that she's redeemed herself from the whole - We kept this secret from you, thing. (And it looks to me like she tries to help Zedd protect Kahlan in the next eppie, so it wasn't personal. I like to think she likes Kahlan.)
YAY!! Richard, you made the right choice. We talked about this - Room with a door, or dirty blanket in the bush with your Ninja!Confessor. You've made the right decision. Who needs a room with a door, anyhow?
Richard: "I don't beleive in prophecies!"
Prelot: "You're a lost soul if you have nothing to believe in, Richard."
Richard: "I believe in myself and the people I love."

I love the hidden little shout-outs to Kahlan. I really do.
Awww, Verna: "He's full of surprises." - You're awesome! Stay around.

Haha, go the random nun sweeping the floor! ILU♥.
Oooo, new prophecy, we'll get back to that.
Rounding out this episode, in light of all the reviews I've seen, I will agree on one point. No it's not as good an episode as the past few have been. I mean, "Light" omg, but I didn't dislike this episode! It was tasked with getting through, A LOT and I think that it handled it pretty okay. I wasn't fond of how they brought in Leo, they could have shortened some of the Nicci crap and gone with making the journey to find Leo a little longer (I mean, to make us more open to it.) But he's made up for himself with the Chipmunk comments. Okay, so we would have liked to have seen him prove himself, beyond being the face in Shota's vision (and how reliable is she, really?) but apparently his line was meant to be Seeker one day, so, *shrugs* I say he's cute, let him stay. And he makes Cara smile, what's not to like? Cutting it up and trying to break it down too much is just stressful and sucks the fun out of it. Yes, we could have done with less Nuns and more Kahlan, but in the long run we know she's fantabulisticulous, so really? She has great moments and sometimes she has to sit back. We don't like it, but it's real.

And, I just love it when those carvings on the wall go and contradict Richard, because we all know that after this little jem, he's going to want to be ten millimetres behind Kahlan at all times! And he's going to want Zedd to put a little protective magic!bubble around her and he's not going to sleep because he'll be too busy watching her, making sure no one's coming to kill her. LOLZ. Oh Richard, you said you didn't believe in prophecy? But, ah, his excuse will be that he doesn't, but that other people might believe it and so, he needs to still protect her from them. Aww, so cute.

I don't know why I think that's wicked, I just do.

8x11 - Perdition

THIS LOOKS SO AWESOME!! I can't wait.
