And then Yain said...

I glance at the sensor module at the top left of my HUD and activate a new feature I've just installed. A small window rises at the bottom left of my screen, and the slow beat of music dances inside my helmet, just loud enough to be heard but not distract.

It helps my nerves. Kind of.

My chin bounces slightly with the music. The repulsorlift's panel flashes Lower City, and the doors ding open.

I'm staring down the barrel of a blaster.

“Gimme all your-”

I knock the blaster aside with my crush-gaunt. The force of the enhanced glove sends the weapon clattering away to the back of the repulsorlift. The Weequay blinks, confused. I take a step forward. He takes a step back.

I switch on my outbound speakers.

“Mando'ad,” I say, and point to myself.

I step out of the repulsorlift and point to him. “Peedunky.”

He blinks rapidly. My vibroblade ejects from my gauntlet with a noisy shu-shuk, the tip of the shiv clearing my knuckles and reaching out just past my fingertips. I take another casual step forward.

“Let’s try this again, chakaar.”

His wide eyes flicker from me to the lift, back to me, and then back to the lift. A loud ding rings from behind me. The Weequay gasps and lunges to my right, stumbling headfirst into the pod and crashing to the floor. The doors shut behind him and he's whisked away to wherever it's supposed to go next.

Guess he really liked that blaster.
