[Wichita's still wandering around, though now she's trolling the airwaves as she does it. Because what better way to get to know the people of the city than to bug them over the phone?]

I don't think it's really like taking orders from a plant. Unless you can hear them talking to you. [Her smile is aaabsolutely heard in her voice.] Are the plants trying to tell you what to do?

[ There is a Truly Unsettled Pause here, because if there's anything more disturbing than being compelled to play tonsil hockey with strangers it's the literal idea of a Talking Plant getting him to do so. Um. Wichita - 1, Arthur - negative 5. What even.

Still, he clears his throat and his response is wry enough: ]

Not yet they aren't. Lucky me.

You don't sound too bothered by it either way.

Bothered by what, people hanging mistletoe everywhere? [Someone doesn't 100% get that this is a curse yet.] It's a little weird, but I'm not going to let it bother me.

Then again, I'm not the one that thinks they're going to start bossing people around. [SNERK.]

It's not people that're hanging it up. It just grows where you stand. Unless you're alone, I guess.

Strong argument for staying inside today.

[ Pause. ]

You must still be new.

Whaaat. Is it? [Wichita isn't looking above her right now, no. There's just a plain awning to a row of buildings there. Although now that she's following said awning down to the end of the set of buildings with her eyes, she notices that there are two couples just further down, both making out, both with mistletoe overhead.]

That's bullshit. [Physical evidence right in front of her eyes is bullshit, yes.] And yes I'm still kinda new, I guess. I don't get out much.

[ This time he laughs, amused in spite of himself and the whole ridiculous repetitive circumstances turning everything onto its head today. ] Yeah, it kind of is, but it's happening.

[ He refuses to say 'believe it or not' but the sentiment is very, very much there. ]

Not getting out a lot is actually good in theory here. Just harder in practice. But unless you're looking to fill your kissed-by-strangers quota, I'd suggest keeping to it til tomorrow.

[All the sighs, dude. She sidesteps onto the sidewalk so she's no longer under anything, but now she's getting snowed on, great.]

I'm already outside. And nowhere near my place. ['Her place' like she even has a place.] Isn't there a way to avoid being cursed? You'd think someone would have figured that out by now, if it's such a common thing.

Yeah. You'd think. [ It's sardonic even though he agrees. ] I'm sure people have tried. No luck I guess.

Part of the problem is people don't know they're cursed when they're cursed, a lot of the time.

[--know they're cursed when they're cursed, a lot of the time.

Hey, she heard that. Like heard it-heard it, not just the voice coming out of her phone, but an actual voice echoing it. She backtracks her last few steps, which brings her right outside a small shop. Alright.]

Hey, what's your favorite ice cream flavor? And explain why, in detail.

[So she can find you by following your voice. She's basically like a secret agent.]

[ The question catches him completely off guard and for a second he's unhelpfully silent before he replies, somewhat warily (as if ice cream is anything to be wary of, but he's seen weirder here, honestly.) ]

I like most ice cream. But why're you asking me about it?
