Hello people! :O)~ The weekend of April 6-8th Ida, Greg and I went to Universal Studios in Orlando for Mardi Gras! It was so much fun! We drove up on Friday night and checked into the hotel and then immediately went in search of alcohol. LOL We stumbled upon an ABC Liquor which was totally perfect and bought some stuff for the room. On our way back to the hotel I accidentally missed the turn in and kept going about a half of a mile and we ran smack into a SONIC! My FAVORITE place! It was fate! Totally kismet. Anyway, we drank a bit on Friday and then went to sleep, well at least Ida and Greg did. For some reason I couldn't sleep, I was restless and ended up watching tv and reading all night and into the early morning. Finally once daybreak hit I was able to nod off a bit before we had to get ready for our early bird dinner before we went to the park for the show. We ate at Fridays (as usual lol) and it was really good. HAHA That is, aside from our waiter who pissed Ida off so bad that she was surprisingly determined to ruin his afternoon. HA! She changed her food order on him after he put in her original order out of spite and gave him attitude. He told her when we sat down that she scared him and she got annoyed of course, as anyone would have. It was funny to see her this way considering how nice she is to the wait staff everywhere we go. Kind of refreshing a bit. HAHA! Anyway, after we ate we went back to the hotel and chilled for about an hour before calling the front desk for our taxi. We got into this "taxi" that was really a ford van with no air conditioning and the windows were clamped shut. YUCK! Luckily the park was only about three miles from the hotel so it was ok. We got to the park and walked for what seemed like an hour before we made our way to the ticket booths in front of the park where we had to pick up our year passes. The guy we encountered there was a riot even though he didn't know what he was doing. His name was Benedict and he was from Wales, UK. I gave him my information and he seemed as though everything was fine until a few moments later when he began panicking, slightly. He asked for all of our names to put on the passes and printed them all up and then had to void them twice and call for back up before we could enter the park. LOL He reminded me of Simon Cowell with the things he was saying, only he was aiming the comments toward himself. It was funny. Well after that we entered Islands of Adventure and walked around for a bit before we went on the Spider-Man ride. We didn't really do much at that park because we didn't even get inside until after 6pm and then we found out that Mardi Gras was being held at the main park so we had to leave and go over there. We were kind of irritated because by the time we got into Universal they were already starting to block the road for the parade and other entertainment and it was also getting really cold. We went into one of the stores to see about buying a coat or something and had no luck. By the time we went back outside we could no longer see the road or sidewalk for that matter. People were packed like sardines vying for a closer look at the floats. We didn't much care about the parade because Daughtry was playing as soon as it was over so we had to make our way to the stage without getting mobbed. LOL It was insanity but we did it. We found a nice little standing area next to this bar and began getting our drink on. They had these light up glasses that said Mardi Gras 2007 on them so of course Greg and I ordered our drinks in that. The initial drink in the cup was $9.00 and every refill after was $6.00 which was cool. Ida bought our first round but didn't get herself a light up glass, so of course she was bummed. I coyly convinced the bartender to give me one for free for her beer to go in and he kindly obliged. She was happy. :O)~ We drank rum runners because they were simple for the guy to do since they were in this big thing with a tap running from it with five alcohols in it. It tasted like fruit punch and had a major kick that snuck up on us later. LOL WOW! Awesome shit! We met this guy Vincent and his sister Lisa (who told us her name like a hundred times haha!) and they were nice. Vincent bought Greg and I a round of drinks because we are engaged and he wanted to congratulate us. Cool dude. The bartender also slipped us some free drinks too which rocked! We had an awesome time. Daughtry was amazing and hot as always, it was a GREAT time. When the show was over we were trying to leave and Ida ended up walking on the grass to get out of there faster which proved to be a huge disaster. LOL We got yelled at by the cops for being on the grass and then he wouldn't let us leave the park with our beverages in hand which pissed me off. He made me pour mine out because he said I couldn't stand there and drink it and then he allowed Ida to finish her beer because she made a stink about it. LOL Which I should've done too because it was too good to be plant food! The cop kept screaming at people and everyone was trying to avoid these flowers that were between the grass and the sidewalk and the cop wouldn't let people walk anywhere else, he made us all trample on the flowers. It was retarded. We finally got out of that chaos and made our way to some stores so Greg could go to the restroom. It was a lot of fun. We decided instead of staying at City Walk we would just go and get a cab and head back to the hotel where we had alcohol still from the night before and just have a night cap there. Sounded like a plan. On our way to the taxi waiting area we bought some light up devil horns
and some light up glasses and wore them all the way back to the hotel. When we got downstairs to wait for a taxi the line had formed and was wrapping around the building. We made our way to the end of the line and Ida started asking random people to share a cab with us so we could leave ahead of the line. This cab driver came over and told us that he could take us where we needed to go and so we shared the cab/van with a whole crew of teeny bopper cheerleaders who were in town for a competition and had a curfew. In the van Ida insisted she needed to go on Myspace and turned on the drivers computer and I had to move her away before he saw her. LOL It was really funny. FINALLY, we got back to the hotel and went upstairs and had some more to drink before we realized how hungry we were. Ida and I wanted IHOP and Greg wanted Pizza. He wasn't drunk like we were so he went to IHOP and got us some food, I ordered Chocolate Chip Pancakes and home fries and she ordered a Western Omelette with extra sour cream. Greg got the pizza delivered to the hotel and we had a nice meal together. Shortly after dinner we all passed out. The next day we got up early since we had to check out of the hotel and we also wanted to hit up the awesome buffet breakfast they had downstairs. We checked out and put our stuff in the car and then had breakfast and it rocked! Ida even snuck a box of cheerios in her purse for breakfast on Monday when she was home, hahahahaha! It was great! After we ate we got in the car and drove to the park. We went to Universal and it was a lot of fun. When we got there we wanted to do the Twister ride/show thing but first we stopped for a drink and a friend I knew from an old job was working the stand. His name is Adam and I haven't seen him since he left my old job, so it was nice to run into him again, especially somewhere you wouldn't expect to see people you know. He was very nice, he gave Greg a Strawberry slushie with a shot of liquor in it and gave us a free soda and we only got charged for one of the sodas. It was really cool and nice of him. After that we went into Twister and then we walked around and went on Earthquake, E.T. and Jaws. It was fun, but all the lines made our time really short and we didn't have time to do much else, which sucked but it was still an awesome weekend. We drove home after the park and thats the whole thing. We are going back in September again and our other friend Alex and his fiancee Elizabeth might come with us, but for now its just Ida, Greg and I again for sure. Well TTYL people! I started my new job today and I am so tired its insane!! The trip really screwed up my sleep!
