Obviously you've never been a working-class person with multiple jobs, income just above poverty level (which entitles me to nothing), and chronic illnesses that go untreated.
I have been BUSTING MY ASS and living in pain for two years. I had the flu and bronchitis in January....it cost me about $600 to get treated, from beginning to end.
I have been BUSTING MY ASS and not working as a teacher, because the economy BLOWS.
I have $30 in my bank account, and approximately $5,000 in medical debt.
Not to mention my $65,000 in student loans that are going unpaid right now.
I have been out of college 5 years. In that time, I have worked FT (for companies that offer insurance) for 2.5 years.
When I lost my teaching job, my Cobra was $324 a month.
I wasn't even MAKING $324 a month.
I have 5 cavities that have needed to be filled since June 09. They hurt, in addition to the other pain I live with.
I'm tired of people saying blatantly ignorant things on fb.
Healthcare is a RIGHT, not a privilege.
YOUR tax dollars will pay for healthcare for "deadbeat types" if this goes through...but it will also pay for people like me.
