I hate the question of "So why don't you have a boyfriend?" I actually don't really hate the question as much as the connotation that people put with it. I feel like people ask me that in a tone of wondering what's wrong with me. Let me just set the record straight: THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ME FOR BEING SINGLE!!!!!!!!!
I have always wondered exactly how to answer this question when people ask it of me, as well. Many times, I have felt like going off on them and telling them to get into the 21st century. I have always refrained, though, and usually just gave the answer of, "Mmmm, I don't know exactly." And that's the truth. I don't know why God has kept me single thus far but I know He has a plan for my life and right now, that doesn't include a boyfriend. I can't and won't spend all my time hoping for someone only to not live my life. If I worry about it, I don't do the things I want to do and I'll become lonely, self-conscious, desperate, and eventually live alone with 15 cats. Sorry, not for me!
But, as I was talking with a high school girl yesterday about boys (she was talking, I was listening), she gave a very witty explanation for why she doesn't have a boyfriend. She said, "He is just lost right now and being a guy, is too stubborn to ask for directions on how to find me!" I like it and think I am going to use that the next time someone asks me that awful question.
