[ofa] Teleportation and other family issues

Ashley leads the way toward her mother's office. Henry's got her back and that helps. She's trying to feel determined, that this won't destroy her. She stops in front of her mother's office door and takes a breath.

Ashley knocks on the door.

"Mom?"

Henry gives her a little smile, it's probably too sympathetic and she'll probably see right through it but he has a feeling this will be difficult for her. Hell, all of them.

He sticks behind Ash, letting her be between him and Druitt, who so far has been nice. Go figure. Maybe he's got a heart.

John closes the door when he comes in. He knows that his presence is probably going to worry Helen more than anything, considering it isn't every day their daughter lets him tag along to have a family talk with her mom.

Ashley looks at Henry for a moment, briefly at her father then back at her mother. She squares her shoulders.

"Remember that thing on my mind? The one I wanted to try to work out on my own?" She bites her lip.

"I need your help."

It's not really his position to speak, or really do anything but feel bad for everyone involved. It's got to be hard for all of the, but this is his family. This is where he's supposed to be. He puts his hand near Ashley's in case she wants it.

John stays by the door and watches him, his guilt and worry clear on his face for a moment before he reigns it in and watches the three of them.

Ashley perches on the edge of her seat. Henry's hand snakes out, and she reaches for him, touching his fingers then sliding her hand into his.

"I-" she's not sure where to begin, but she figures she might as well do it fast. "I can teleport. I've done it once. We did a brain scan and it was different from the last time."

She focuses on the edge of her mother's desk because she doesn't want to see her mother's reaction. It's apparent that while she's keeping it together, she's really freaked out by this.

"Teleporting," he answers for her. "Just like Druitt does.". He's not sure if he's felt worse for Magnus since he found out just who Ash's dad was. "And they did a brain scan.". Henry tilts his head deferentially
towards Druitt. He's glad the older man is being so responsible. He's even glad he's here.

John doesn't say anything though there's a flash of guilt across his face as he watches Helen particularly.

Ashley squeezes Henry's hand, glad he's there. Of all the reactions she imagined her mother might have, this isn't one.

"It happened while I was fighting Raya. She got too close and I was suddenly across the room."

Henry listens, it's not really his place to comment. He's kind of window dressing, or scruffy moral support. He is glad Magnus seems so calm. Though, she does, kind of always seem that way.

John also remains quiet for now, allows Ashley to be the one to get the information to her mother.

"Not again. I didn't want to do it again. I think I could though."

She nods her head at her father. "He saw me do it the one time. it threw off Raya so he was able to take her out. After we got back here he convinced me to do a scan and then that I should tell you when it wasn't the same."

She squeezes Henry's hand and sets her jaw.

"Sorry."

For everything; for trying to keep it from Helen, for it happening in the first place, for being broken.
