and done!
So i'm finally done. Cool. i'm honestly not too 'over the moon' about it. Perhaps it's that i've gotten 4 hours of sleep and had three finals in the past two days. Or perhaps it's that having a piece of paper doesn't really mean too much to me anymore. This is not to say that i'm looking a gift horse in the mouth - it's neat being the first one in my family to graduate college right out of high school (and be the first one to have the opportunity to get the fuck out of SoCal), but really, i'm just too tired and disgruntled to care about it anymore.
Anyway, i'm just glad it's over. Now i get to wait for the student loan bills to come in, great!
Truthfully, i'm actually more excited about Tamar's graduation than my own. It's funny - not only do i know and like more people in her department than in my own, but our department's commencement speaker is no where near as exciting as hers. Spivak is the speaker at her graduation, holy crap! i mean, really, how awesome is that?!?! For my graduation we have some effin person who brought GMOs to Africa, thanks a lot lady! Ugh. i'm sorry, but just because someone is a self-identified woman of color doesn't mean she can't suck. But our department, with its lovely essentialist attitude and penchant for all things corporate, have brought her to speak at our graduation. Personally, i find their use of identity politics to get brownie points for the department highly offensive. Needless to say, i'm not ok with it, not in the slightest. But there's nothing i can do about it now. Alls i can say is that its a good thing Spivak is speaking, hopefully she'll make it all better...heh!
