Shake, Rattle and Roll...

5.6 in Chino Valley. That is about 30 miles from here.

I have never felt an earthquake before. When I was here almost a year ago (apartment hunting) I woke up the next morning and was told that I had slept through a small quake. (I vaguely remembering thinking the people in the hotel room next to me were exceptionally enthusiastic in their passions).

About 30 minute ago, however ... the earth tried to shake me off.

It was actually kind of interesting. The world slowly shook from side to side, and the floor felt like it was on a wave - gentle but rapid up-and-down motions.

I have no reference if this quake was long, short, strong, weak ... my more experienced California co-workers tell me that it "seemed" long. And that the rolling of the floor - a "wave quake", so I've been told - is unusual.

But all is well here.
I've checked in with other friends - everyone seems safe.

Hmmm ... not so bad.
Then again, I was thirty miles away from the epicenter, meaning the quake I felt was lessened by a small mountain range.

Yeah - I'm fine with that distance. Stay over there, quakes.

shaking, earthquake, epicenter, rolling
