let's see..we didn't actually ride the city buses today. Terri (he's the one in charge of us) gave us week passes for the bus so we are going to start that tomorrow morning for school. He drove us the way the bus would go and told us when we need to ring the bell for the bus to stop, then where to get the bus for the ride back. We met our supervisor today. We are supposed to call our supervisor, and Terri, and our co-ops and head teachers (principals) by their first names! That's something that is going to take some getting used to, but it'll be kewl. Wendy (our supervisor) seems really kewl! Down to earth and really nice. I have a field trip on my FIRST DAY of Year 4!!! We are going to the National Park, I'm told to dress causal and very warm. I'm also to bring a lunch. Good thing I got lunch meat and bread at the store! If England people are telling me to dress warmly I need like 85 layers on! I'm allowed to wear jeans though, so that's good. Our class size is an average of 30 students, so eh..but i heard that a lot of primary age schools have teacher assistants in the classroom because the classes are so large.
What else..I got my room phone hooked up today!!! 3p per minute..which is like 6 cents. NOT bad at all!!! So I get to call people!!! :-P
Jason's dad offered to send him over here to see me while I was here, but Jason doesn't tink he has any breaks. :( Maybe he can leave right after school on a Thursday and stay until Sunday morning. 2 days is better than nothing..but I tink jet lag would kill him, esp for school on Monday. I dunno. Only 57 days till I get to be with him again anyway... Jason took one of his finals today, I wonder how he did. He's been doing fabulously since going to this school!!
That Thursday before Easter break I can catch the 17.00 train and be in London by 20.36 and meet Uncle Peter then be "escorted" to Brighton for 22.36ish...then stay until 2nd April. Something to think about.
I got postcards to send! I only got 5 and stamps for them and it cost me 3.90 pounds!! So expensive! To send a letter depends on weight but it starts at like 60p ($1.20). Geez...blah...yeah anyway!
I can't wait to get started on everything and see my Uncle and perhaps Jason can find time to see me. So many things are going on. I'm trying to keep busy because I know when I start teaching and being observed (i'm only in the classroom for like 5 1/2 weeks) I'll be really really busy!
I miss everyone and everything at home, but I'm having a good time so far. I cannot wait to meet my kids tomorrow! A field trip my first day..how kewl is that?! :-p I'm off to the loo! L8Rs
