I've grown increasingly uncomfortable with the idea of random people who I don't know reading my journal, and since I've been finding myself f-locking almost every entry as of late anyway, I thought it was high time I went friends-only. I'm always open to new friends, so if you'd like me to add you, please comment here, and I'm likely to add you. I have no requirements for adding, just comment first and tell me who you are and where you know me from, and we'll go from there. If you add me, it'd be nice to hear from you once in a while!
Since I'm locking up the shop, you can't really tell much about me or about what you'll find on this journal. What you'll see if we're not LJ pals is my fandom stuff--fanfiction, FSTs, icons, and the occasional AMV. If you add me, you're going to see a lot of other things as well. So I'll go ahead and tell you a little bit about myself!
! My name is Anna, but you can call me Nana. So different, right? Nicknames I've used in the past include Anya, Anapi, Rei, Smap, Ee-nee and Spoon. My mom calls me Princess and my fiance calls me Sexyface. My sister calls me Bitchjerk, and my kitten calls me That Mean Lady Who Won't Let Me Chew On Her Computer Cable.
@ My birthday is May 20th, 1988. As my age is obviously subject to change, I'll leave it at that.
# I live in New York City--just now I'm in Brooklyn, but I grew up in Manhattan. I am jokingly elitist about my city. I do think it's a magnificent place and I am incredibly grateful to have grown up there, but hey, other places are pretty excellent too!
$ I am engaged to an awesome guy named Erik (templar1138). We met during our first year of college, at a LARP. I'm not normally into LARP, and have since decided that it really isn't for me, but I wanted to try something new, and he was into it. After a session or two we got to talking, and he was absolutely appalled that I'd never seen Star Wars, and he had to personally remedy this. He proposed to be on our second anniversary, and it remains one of the best memories of my entire life.
% I live with my grandmother (Diana), and my sister (Katya), while I'm going to graduate school. When I'm not at school I live up in White Lake, NY with my mother (Michele) my stepfather (David), Katya, and my brother (Lukas). We also have four cats (Diego, Seamus, Delilah, and Stella) and three rabbits (Johnny, Pandora, and Penelope.) I have a stepbrother (Davis) who recently moved to Canada, and my dad (Wolf) and his wife (Beth) live in Maryland with their two young daughters, Greta and Elsa. Greta called me Ee-nee, for some reason.
^ I write. A lot. If you add me, expect to see fanfiction and original fiction popping up from time to time. On this journal I'm currently posting my 2009 NaNoWriMo novel--it's about a woman named Rhiannon who can give people any disease she wants to by touching them.
& I am the creator and moderator of two Yu-Gi-Oh GX communities, 20_Kuribohs and gx_contest. I used to run dn_contest, and it ran for nearly 100 weeks before I ended up having to close it down.
* I use this journal to talk about a lot of really personal stuff, and that's a big part of why I'm f-locking from now on. LJ for me is like free therapy, so while I've got a lot of fun stuff up here too, if you add me you're going to hear about a lot of the nonsense and angst that goes through my head. You're going to hear about my mom's health problems and the dynamics of my family, and you're going to hear about my period. Anything particularly long or overemotional will usually be behind a cut, but just be warned that if you add me, you're going to get to know me.
! I also use this journal to share music. Just about every other entry has a song or two uploaded at the end of it. I'm a music junkie, and I spend a lot of time searching out new things to listen to, so I like sharing the fruits of my labor with my friends.
@ My goals in life include teaching high school English, having lots and lots of babies, and publishing my original fiction. I have a BA in Literature and wrote my thesis on the representation of tuberculosis in Literature. Right now I am attempting to complete an MSED in Adolescent English Education.
# I don't like to try to judge my own personality, because I know for a fact that I'm no expert on myself. But one thing I can say is that I'm pretty non-aggressive, and I try my best to look at all sides of conflicts and to understand other people's points of view. Not saying I always succeed at this, but getting along with others and making sure everyone is happy is important to me! I promise, I will never intentionally be an asshole!

Update 2022: A lot of this was accurate about a decade ago. Many details have changed. I'm not really active here anymore, and it's nice to see what my younger self had to say, so I'm not re-writing it.
