stevens historical first post
My inaguaral post on the speak easy live journal...it brings a tear to my eye. This is truly a monumentous occasion. I don't take english anymore, so my spelling has gone to shit. Thats okay, who the hell really cares about spelling...your brain only processes the first and last letters of words.
So the Red Sox just took game five from the Yankees. Two moreand theyll have done the impossible. I went to the game Sunday with my partner in crime eric pifer. Man was that a good time. No one cared that they were down 3 games to none, everyone just got drunk and enjoyed the fenway experience. Things have been pretty crazy in the streets around northeastern the past few nights. I guess we have a reputation for rioting now, theres been vanfuls of cops around the area every night for the past week. When you step back and think about the fact that all this hoopla is over a baseball game, its pretty stupid, but still, its a damn good time.
Ive realized i want to play guitar in a band. Ive just got the look down so well, its a shame im stuck behind a drumset all the time. Kevin and I are starting a pop band, so i think i will play guitar in that.
we came up with a sure fire pop hit before practice the other day for this new band. Its too straight up pop for speak easy, so we're going to record it ourselves and sell it to someone for alot of money so we can avoid getting real jobs. We need a girl to sing, someone like Ashlee Simpson. If you know anyone please contact your local speak easy representative asap so we can get the ball rolling and make our millions and buy fur coats and fast cars and lots of ice.
So what the hell is going on with this here band these days. We just played in sudbury for the first time since the summer. It was nice to play for a bunch of familiar fans again. Kids who know the words and arent afraid to rock out and have a good time. I think we all needed that, the past couple crowds we'd played for before that were downright boring. Though it was a really wierd venue, I think we were all pleasantly surprised with how the show went. Those drunken Vietnam vets dancing all over the place really made my night.
Ive spent alot of time analyzing music for my classes lately, and thus have related these analyzations to our own CD "Low Moral Character." Doing alot of thinking about what makes a good song/recording, and realizing that while I am more proud of "Low Moral Character" than anything else I've ever done with my life ever, we really couldve done better. 15 songs is just too much, we couldnt spend enough time on each one. I could've done a lot better with alot of the production and drums, and in general theres just not enough energy, alot of it feels slow and draggy. Really it just makes me excited to record again. Not only do the new songs kick ass, but we know what we're doing now. Our next release will be a damn fine batch of recordings...of that I am certain.
We have our first weekend without a show since we got to school coming up. We are all excited to not have to pack shit and set shit up and drive for hours, especially casey, as he does most of the packing/unpacking. However, after this weekend off, we have a whole bunch of shit coming up. We're all really excited to open for Westbound Train, and all the others shows should be fun too. There's been talk of us playing at LS again sometime soon...thad be cool as shit, I hope that comes through.
Its 2:26 and ive got class tomorow at 10, i should get my sleep.
