Bergman
I haven't updated in ages and I had decided to update today but now I found out that Ingmar Bergman's dead.
So, I'm just going to write that, I'm a bit shocked. He's one of those people that I imagine many people presumed was already dead and he was very old but he was top of my list of great living artists and I guess I'll have to change that now.
I have said at various points that Bergman was the reason I moved to Sweden. Which is an outright lie but nonetheless prior to moving to Sweden and in my first years here his films were Sweden for me or at least the major part of that mythologial texture of a country that makes it an attractive place to live.
Whatever else he was my favourite film director and possibly the only truly great artist this country has produced.
