everything at once

well, not exactly. just a flurry of pre-Syracuse activity. and it's good stuff.

sang at a wedding saturday. I'd already been to one funeral since I got home (elderly member of my church), and had the occasion to go to at least two others (army officer who went to my high school who was killed in Iraq, and a longtime friend of my grandmother and family). I much prefer weddings.

hung out with high school folks, including my cousin Jesse (hadn't seen her in about two years) on saturday night. we did the usual reminiscing about band and lame stuff, but with the added twists of a girl in our crew moving to Arizona with her boyfriend, as well as other news other people getting married and moving on. so it goes.

went to Baltimore to hang out with my sister. walked around Fort McHenry (a Maryland historical site I'd never visited before) and Federal Hill. regarding Fed Hill, she said, 'I've never been here sober.' it made me feel better about drinking this past semester away. went to a really sweet diner in Charles Village (near Hopkins and sandwiched between two really bad neighborhoods) called Paper Moon. really fun, funky decorations and an intriguing and delicious menu. reminded me of Silver Spurs in SoHo (or NoHo, or wherever it was. someplace in way lower Manhattan), and I said this to my sister and she replied that she had just been there on her most recent visit to NYC a few weeks ago. I love my sister and beautiful conincidences like that.

leaving for Ocean City tomorrow morning. upon arrival, I will have to compete for beach space with all the recently-graduated high school seniors. but while all those suckers are drinking underage and running from cops, I'll be with Luke at the bars on the boardwalk, enjoying the nighttime spray with a buzz, then staggering back to the hotel.

and after that...quickly getting my shit together, repacking and organizing, setting up car and medical insurance, et cetera, et cetera.
