anymore if I watch the news I do one of 2 things, I either watch the Daily Show or BBC. The Daily show because its funny or BBC because it doesn't seem to have a liberal/conservative political agenda. My news hate was made very evident with the tragedy in Virginia Monday. I know its bad, and people want someone to blame, but the liberals calling for a gun ban, or the conservatives looking for their annual scapegoat (gays, or Marilyn Manson?) I've started to get real irritated.
It almost seems like the news agencies are becoming more and more tactless, swooping in on misfortune and turning it into a neon colored circus that would make P.T. Barnum blush. So far I've seen one newscaster compare the tragedy to 9-11 which I feel is off base, and in no way similar, and I've seen another basically sound happy that it happened, because it was bound to happen that one was going to be more grisly than Columbine. It was almost like he was literally saying Death=Ratings.
I really don't feel like I have anything important to say other than "SHIT HAPPENS" people snap every day, people kill each other every day. Lets move on please. The more we constantly hear about it the less good it will do. Pretty soon we're going to have some kind of polarized political war between neo-cons and democrats over it. I'd rather not see that happen.
