I went to church this morning. Again, intended one church, ended up at another. Well, the same one as last week, but it had the usual pastor instead of the guest pastor. I liked him. He's a spaz. The topic of the discussion was 1st Corinthians chapter 13, which has been my favorite chapter in the Bible since I discovered it.

I'll post the first part.

"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails."

If you want to keep reading, it's in the Google, the Bing, the Books, everywhere. Anyway, that's what the first part of my morning was all about, and it was exactly where I wanted to be, though it hurt some.

The next topic I encountered was one of Identity. Christian or not, "religious" or not, everyone has something they've devoted their life to above all other things. It could be getting money or buying things. Or being beautiful, pleasing, or wanted by other people. Maybe they want to do good stuff for others and get praise for being "good". Maybe it's a faith, and there are many kinds. Maybe it's just "I am my suffering and that is what defines me.". It's an interesting thought, that the things that people say they are is really a discussion on what is important to them the most.

It was a good morning. Much food for thought.
