Bountiful Baskets changed suppliers in our area. They said they had been having a few issues with them as of late (which I noticed in the quickness things spoiled and my last pick-up had hardly any food). Either way now it has a TON of extras including granola, bread, "Asian Pack" (spices like ginger and veggies like bok choy), mangos, and a bean/grains pack.
This is all very exciting to me. I know, silly.
Anyways we are debating the bean/grain pack as it is 25 lbs of products (for $22) like split green peas, garbanzo, lentils, etc. Obviously Nick and I don't eat that much (this was prompted by his mom btw), so we will discuss later.
My garden did not like the last few weeks of record highs. My peppers haven't produced at all, my dill & strawberries are mostly dead and the only things that are super happy are the turnips, lettuce, kale (which is shaded by a huge marigold) and surprisingly eggplant which had not grown an inch until the heat wave.
I do have to say the marigolds helped a ton with insects though!
I need to add about 40 more #'s of soil next year though.
Also need to borrow a truck and get my free mulch from the city.
I used "mushroom compost" like was recommended by several people on my garden. The problem with this is now I am growing mushrooms in my garden.
Now I am hungry.
