My Manifesto.
My friend Kate made a very good point...the manifesto is a very underused literary form. With that in mind, I've written my own.
My Manifesto.
I believe:
I believe in contrast.
I believe that we can tell our life story through music.
I believe anyone can be a writer.
I believe in the power of words.
I believe in enjoying art for art's sake.
I believe the simple things in life can be the most rewarding.
I believe in second chances.
I believe everyone has their secrets.
I believe books are meant to be made of paper.
I believe amor omnia vincit.
I believe in learning from mistakes.
I believe in being my own person.
I believe in living for myself, not others.
I believe in taking chances.
I believe in persistence.
I believe this world could be a better place if it weren't for humanity.
I believe in seizing the day.
I believe everyone should see someplace new in their lifetime.
I believe that there is nothing strange about loving Latin.
I believe my British accent is passable.
I believe that somewhere in a galaxy far, far, away a mob of Wookiees is plotting to kill George Lucas.
I believe in proper grammar and spelling.
I believe in spelling colour with a “u” and theatre with “re.”
I believe in my friends.
I believe my Hogwarts letter got lost somewhere en route from England.
I believe in Ian, Owen, Jasper, Jareth, Barbie, and Katherine.
I believe a blue police box will find me one day.
I believe Jim Henson was a genius, and our world is worse off without him.
I believe we can learn a lot from our families, good and bad.
I believe in the man I love, because he believes in me.
I believe in my crazy, wonderful, protective older brothers.
I believe humanity is too apathetic.
I believe individuals are too self-centered and they don't care for the global community.
I believe we can learn a lot from children.
I believe in our soldiers and all they do to keep our country safe.
I believe in the power of independent women, but I also believe in the power of a successful, balanced relationship.
I believe in Ben & Jerry's.
I believe that a punching bag has many uses.
I believe in softball.
I believe an acquaintance with the civilization of Greece and Rome will help us understand and appraise this world of today, which is indebted to the ancient civilization in its government and laws, literature, language and arts.
I believe in standing up for what I believe in, no matter who or how many try to work against me.
I believe David Bowie is one of the greatest artists the world has ever seen.
I believe I won't stop believing.
I believe something is only impossible if you give up before you've even tried.
I believe laughter can cure just about anything.
I believe in real beauty, not size 0.
I believe in being enthusiastic.
I believe in the aerobic workout that is an NJCL spirit session.
I believe in being cultured.
I believe Twilight is terrible, but that it's like a train wreck, you just can't look away.
I believe there are some movies that everyone should watch during their lifetime.
I believe in hugs and how good one can make a person feel.
I believe that education is more than memorizing facts and spitting them out on a test.
I believe you're never too young to find the person with whom you want to spend the rest of your life.
I believe in reading for fun.
I believe Justin Bieber needs to jump off a cliff.
I believe in equal rights.
I believe in marrying the one you love, no matter who you are.
I believe we have the right to be ourselves, and no one can tell us differently.
I believe in the beauty of the Romance languages.
I believe in white Christmases.
I believe in Starbucks.
I believe my place “is” in the kitchen, because I love to be there and cooking is relaxing. \
I believe in dressing up on Halloween, no matter how old you are.
I believe Halloween in meant to be fun, not an excuse to dress like a whore.
I believe in doing the Time Warp.
I believe in Bazinga.
I believe the average American doesn't know enough about the world outside America's borders.
I believe I could make it through the Labyrinth in 13 hours.
I believe in fate.
I believe in patience.
I believe in 10 minute good-byes and good-nights.
I believe in the satisfaction of a simple kiss.
I believe I was a pomegranate fan before pomegranates were popular, thanks to my Latin teacher and Persephone.
