So true

Found an article on Yahoo when I went to check my mail about Pirate costumes being number 1 this year. Which didn't surprise me one bit, because heh, I'm on that band wagon too. But I can deffinatly concur with this statement:
"Will the cost of a pirate costume cost you a treasure chest of gold? It might. Unlike other all-inclusive costumes, dressing like Captain Jack Sparrow can cost shoppers an arm and a wooden leg. "If it's something simple like cartoon characters -- Batman, Flash or Superman -- a low-end style costume is OK," says David Bertolino, owner of Boston Costume, a costume shop that's been outfitting the theatre, film and television industries for nearly 40 years. He says the pirate look, however, requires more accessories, including a hat, boots and sword. By the time customers get to the register, they've "got a wheelbarrow full of stuff."'

I agree, being the famous Captain Jack Sparrow IS costing a treasure chest of gold almost. Of course I am buying custom made pieces (like the head scarf and beads) off of the internet so I expect to be paying custom prices. So far let's see how much Capn' Jack has cost me......close to $200. And that's not even near completion yet. I still need to buy the materials to add the beads to some of the custom hair acsessories as well as buy materials to build the leather strap and black fringe on his hand and wrist. This is becomeing a bigger project that I had first thought. Of course I am a stickler for detail and perfection and if you're going to be as recognizeable as Jack Sparrow, you can't be looking too ghetto. Also since a friend of mine has talked me into going to a convention in Chicago sometime in May I'm not planing on wearing a generic party city costume (Yes, I am a dork, so sue me). I'm actually looking into buying real pirate boots from this store on line that sells them, but I have time to save up for that. Right now no more money!! Luckily I'll be dreading my own real hair, that's right, no wigs for me.

But I will NOT be wearing a false bear and moustache because it will look creepy. I don't have such an androginous shape to pull off that look lol.
