Adrenaline Rush (The Big Bang Theory)
“I’m so sorry,” Penny sighed “I can’t meet you at the mall today. Maybe we can meet up this weekend?”
She hung up the phone and wondered what was wrong with her. She never used to miss any opportunity to go shopping. But something changed in the past few months: she had gotten to know her neighbors. The closer she got to Leonard and Sheldon, the more she found herself intrigued by their chaotic scientist ways. She was afraid that on her way there she’d somehow get sidetracked by them and accidently stand her friend up.
Penny had decided that the only way to fix the problem was to quit cold turkey. She’d go a week without spending any time with the nerdy duo. Penny took a deep breathe and then look at the clock - ten minutes had passed. She only had to last the rest of the day, then it would be one day down, six to go.
Another ten agony minutes passed, all Penny could think of was how she should have gone shopping. But that would have been just as bad, when she passed the video game store.
“That’s enough!” screamed Penny after thirty more minutes had passed. She could no longer resist the urge to head to the geek’s lair.

“Penny,” Leonard greeted her as he answered the door.
She looked around. Her nerves jump with excitement. She begun to twitch.
“Is there something wrong?” asked Leonard.
“Ugh,” Penny said unsure if she should explain it or not.
“If its serious you should tell us,” Leonard frowned worried.
“Well, I guess I could,” Penny said nervously. “A friend of mine well has been not hanging out with her usual friends. She has become obsessed with something weird.”
Sheldon rolled his eyes. Penny didn’t get the obvious at times.
“It sounds like your friend has been experiencing an adrenaline rush from her new obsession,” Leonard suggested. “There’s nothing wrong with that. It’ll probably fade. Are you afraid your friend is putting herself in danger?”
“No, its just feels strange,” Penny answered.
After a few moments Penny blurted out her thoughts, “Is it even possible to get an adrenaline rush from geeky stuff? I think it would be impossible.”
“Penny, that is where you are wrong,” Sheldon spoke to her as if she were a simpleton.
Penny blushed.
“Adrenaline rushes come from a variety of sources,” continued Sheldon. “It doesn’t necessary have to be riding a motorcycle that causes one. I personally get a rush from solving a difficult problem in calculus.”
“Huh,” Penny shook her head confused.
“What Sheldon saying is that it is possible to have an adrenaline rush over geeky stuff,” Leonard explained to Penny.
