Summary: Mai is baffled as to why Ty Lee is so cheerful under such bad circumstances.
Mai watched her friend doing simple acrobatic tricks. They were together in a prison cell. She couldn’t figure it out. It had only been a couple hours since they betrayed Princess Azula. She could only imagine what other horrible things the princess was going to plan for them. She had never seen the princess so angry before.
“You know what going to happen to us?” Mai asked Ty Lee. It almost seemed to her like the fact that they were in prison didn’t register with the girl.
Ty Lee got back on her feet from a headstand and cheerfully replied, “Of course.”
“Why are you so joyful then?” Mai asked in disbelief. She knew Ty Lee was a happy girl, but she didn’t think she was literally always happy.
“Today, my aura is the pinkest it has even been. I don’t think it will ever get as pink as it is ever again.” Ty Lee breathed in and enjoyed the sweet scent of freedom.
Mai never would be able to understand the burden lifted from Ty Lee when the acrobat heard the words ‘I never want to see them again!’ The way Ty Lee saw it, even if she spent the rest of her days in jail she would at least be free from Azula.
