New Philosophy and Attitude

My New Philosophy on People and Friendships

The fundamental principles of human nature according to Thomas Hobbes are passion for self preservation and fear of death. In the next level there are desires for the basic bodily needs: food, drink, and conjugal actions (to preserve the species). The next level is property. You own your body and you labor (which is an extension of your body). When you pick and apple it is your property because your body labored to obtain it; thus with this concept of property, one can own: food, drink, and conjugal partners. Then came greed for more property.

Human Nature:
1. People are selfish
2. People are only motivated to labor (do things) because of what they will receive

Types of Friendships that Exist According to Human Nature:
A. People make friends to receive someone to dump their emotional baggage on and use for material things (ie money, car, connections)
B. People make friends to receive a friendship in return. These are the VERY few genuine people in life.

Gio said that during your life you might have only one REAL friend (B). I feel rather lucky because I have Brenda, Emily, and Jason. I hope that over time these people will continue to be the very few genuine people in life.

Thanks to this new philosophy I have developed a “Fuck You” attitude.
1. I’m not always right and neither are you.
2. I’m not perfect and neither are you.
3. If I said or did something that offended you I didn’t mean to. (If I did mean it, believe me you would know it!)
A. If you get all pissy about something I said or did: “Fuck You” it was an accident. I’m not perfect, or always right, and you will get over it because I’m you’re type A friend. You’re going to need to dump emotional baggage or need me for something materialistic.
B. If you get all pissy about something I said or did: “Fuck You” it was an accident. I’m not perfect or always right, and you will get over it because I’m you’re type B friend. You need my friendship as much as I need yours and we wouldn’t let some little thing get in the way.

Disclaimer: If I lose a friend due the this new “Fuck You” attitude it was probably a type A friendship or a type A disguised as a type B; therefore, this person wasn’t much of a friend at all. This attitude was developed to decrease the amount of stress I encounter while interacting with people. This is also currently a very jaded viewpoint. This philosophy and attitude has the potential of revision.
