If you are a guy, I hope you can say the same one day when your PRC classmate in NUS got the job instead of you. Not because he had better grades, but simply because you are liable and will disrupt work for ICTs and he will not. =)

Have you actually calculated how much one needs to get married (reception, banquet, photos, honeymoon), have a child (hospitalisation, baby care and the subsequent years of grooming and education), get a roof (some basic 3room pigeon hole)?

I'm talking about comfortable, doesn't even have to be luxurious, just providing a decent roof for one's family.

It's not quite within the average person's reach without a 20-30 year loan, unless you are saying that lifetime debts is part of one's life, a norm. If it's beyond one's basic means, better off single than to have the entire family driven out of their home when they can't meet up with their instalments. Why implicate another person, why bring children out to suffer?

That, is being responsible.
You know better there's no free lunch here, at least not for citizens. =)
