dancing with a lesbian

so, tonight we went out to watch some Roller Derby action. the Big Easy Rollergirls put on an exhibition match. it was quite fun. for rachel's enlightenment, yes, there is a point to the game, rather than just girls hitting each other. i mean, that's a big part of roller derby, but there's a scoring system. each team has one "Jammer", which is the girl who scores points for the team. they start in the back of the pack, and have to work through the pack to the front. once they do that, they have to lap the pack and get through it again. they then score a point for each player from the opposing team that they pass. of course, the opposing team tries to stop the Jammer from getting through the pack, mostly by whacking the Jammer with their bodies. and the Jammer's teammates try to block and help them through the pack. pretty simple, but it leads to good fun. we went out with Fenny, a new volunteer we've got down here. she's 35, but is 20 at heart, and is lots of fun.

afterwards we went to Kajun's, the local bar that all the Common Ground kids go to. there was some live music, and as usual i danced my butt off. which brings us to this post's topic. dancing with a lesbian is totally sweet. normally when i dance with a girl, i get all self-conscious. there are all sorts of expectations, and i don't want to make a fool of myself (or rather, i don't want to make a bigger fool of myself). but with a lesbian, it doesn't matter. you can have fun, go wild, and know that she's not judging you. so yeah, i had a great time dancing with claire.

i took a bunch of pictures of my first night lighting the menorah down here, and i'll post them tomorrow.
