So, I got into Northwestern.
Which is awesome--I've wanted to go there since I was 12. But I also just got back from Michigan and I had like the most amazing trip ever. I sat in on a lesson today with a teacher one of my friends recommended. First of all, she had 2 signed posters of Thoroughly Modern Millie and Mamma Mia in her studio--already a good start! She is a phenomenal teacher, really outgoing and fun, and she teaches alot of musical theater students, so she lets her voice students do alot of music theater too. She really works on acting in addition to technique and she put me on her studio list for next year! I sat in on some other classes: german diction, which was actually very interesting, and an acting class for voice majors (once again the teacher was terrific & the students were really talented). There's alot of freedom at Michigan for me to take theater and dance and I can even study abroad. It's everything I could ever want in a school...but it's just not Northwestern.
Ultimately, I know I'll go to Michigan. It has a better program and it just feels right, but saying no to Northwestern will be the hardest thing I've ever done.
