In the never ending adventure to get my name changed at school, my latest adventure:
The school uses a web-based Outlook application for school email. Normally I route this through Thunderbird on my computer at home. But, I am not always at home when I send emails so I do send stuff out directly from my school account. The only problem is the email/computer people didn't get the memo about my name change so email still got sent out under my maiden name. This was fine until it started to confuse residency programs. After some investigation and an attempt at an online form I just went to records and registration (for the 3rd time) and asked them to send the computer people an email. They did, and it worked . . . sort of. My new name was: ADDerly Lottlimbach. Yeah . . . a totally new name. Discovering this mistake I sent emails like crazy to about 3 different people. After a couple of hours they fixed it. Luckily it only took a couple of emails. It is all better now.
My clerkships still don't have the correct name, but I just sign everything in my legal name and let them figure it out. It is not my fault you have someone that doesn't exist any more on your lists.
In defense of the school, they at least have it right on my transcript. And all I care about is that they get it right on my diploma.
