Two new developments in my current situation:

1. I got an iPhone! *happy dance* It is awesome! It is everything I ever hoped it could be. The fact that I can use epocrates just made it even better. I love it.

2. ER @ DRH . . . need I say more? It is a pretty busy place, and they love to let the students do stuff. In the 2 eight hour shifts I have worked I have sewn 2 lacs, attempted 4 IVs, done 1 ABG, performed CPR, and a whole host of other things. It is a neat place to be to do procedures. The attendings are interesting, you never really work with someone more then once, and the residents are pretty cool. They just like the throw the medical students in and let us do as much as we want. So I am on a mission to be able to start IVs by the end of the month. I have yet to be successful, but hopefully soon, with practice . . . and then I will probably never have to start another IV ever again, but you never know right?

The only bummer is the stupid CIS stuff, my info worked a month ago, and it is only supposed to expire every 90 days, so I figured I was good, right? Yeah, right. I go to log in and I can't I call the help desk, my stuff expired. Really? Are you kidding me? The explanation: Sometimes they just randomly expire. So I have been busting my butt to get that worked out. Grrrrr . . .

So look for more posts on the crazy-ness of the ER. And here is my take home lesson from yesterday: Always wear your seat belt in the car. You actually get to walk away from a crash when you do, unlike your unrestrained friends who are ejected, get rushed to recess, get back boards and collars, and later on the medical student sewing up their lacs. (these people were lucky, I only saw them in the ER, not like the unrestrained people I have seen in the morgue)
